Re: Time for Adelaide to grow up, developers cry

It just seems to me that the capital (one-off - okay maybe not exactly, but there is a finite expenditure) cost of constructing a new airport would be regarded as an down payment to the economical benefit that stands to occur by having more development potential in the CBD, therefore resulting in an...

Re: Beer Garden

As we draw to the end of the first month of 2010 - I thought it was just me, but I felt that it had been an unusually warm summer; not so much in regards to heatwaves, but that the days just seemed warmer than usual. So I went and had a look for myself and checked out the BOM stats; and suffice to s...

Aswell as the Port Road tramline extension which will open the area up for development. You only need to look at southern King William Street and overseas to what light rail can do for rundown part of a city. I'm all for the expansion of Adelaide's tram network, and to a great extent, but you just ...

Re: Time for Adelaide to grow up, developers cry

Would it be worth the economical benefit by relocating the airport, to facilitate the economical productivity within the CBD, by allowing taller buildings? I don't understand just quite how complex economics is, but to me, if we spent $6b on building an entirely new airport from scratch, plus operat...

Re: #U/C : Ent. Centre Upgrade | $50m | (2,500) | Hindmarsh

Useful wankiness is okay. The SX station is actually good on the inside, so deservingly, it should look just as good on the outside. The Entertainment Centre (if you can call it that) is not. It's not good inside, it doesn't even look good on the outside either. It's just shit, with more shit added ...

Re: #U/C : Ent. Centre Upgrade | $50m | (2,500) | Hindmarsh

First of all, location, location, location! It should not in the suburbia, not "near the city", but in the city! To justify spending $50m constructing a poorly designed and rather useless warehouse entertainment facility, at a lesser capacity, without any consideration for improving, or be...

Re: News: Adelaide City Council

Councillor Yarwood, Assumedly, if elected to become Lord Mayor, one of your policies would be to review and change the height limitations in order to increase the scope of the potential for a 50 storey building? To me, it would seem like common politics to say something, and not do anything, which u...

I still stand by my statement; this is the ugliest, most wasteful expense of taxpayers money I have ever seen in the Rann Labor Government's lifetime.

Epic fail.

Re: The O-Bahn

Aidan; will you just shutup for once? The O-Bahn was built however long ago, in the 80's or something. We have had 20/30 years of showcasing this so called transport innovation to the rest of the world. If "transport experts", from cities worldwide, wanted to pick up on it, for its success...

Re: VIS: Tram on O'Connell St and Prospect Rd

SJ; I know Clarendon Street very well, actually, as I often use the 96/112 when I go visit Melbourne. It's a much wider street than either of the two roads in question; however, I do think on the whole, hook turns should only be permitted at traffic lights - and perhaps even, not all of them, especi...

Re: VIS: Tram on O'Connell St and Prospect Rd

From my observation; the consensus seems to be that for any tram to run down O'Connell Street and Prospect Road, that it must share the lane with traffic. However, I do beleive that with the introduction of "priority slip" before traffic lights for trams - as is done on the citybound track...

Counting by the Numbers

I thought I'd create a fun thread where you post a little bit of trivia associated with a number, in ascending order. I'll start off. :) 0 - There is no 0 AD. There was a 1 BC and 1 AD - Still to this day, some people debate that technically a decade should span from 2001-2010, and not as 2000-2009,...
