Re: Is collecting fares worth the money?

Interesting question, and timely given that Adelaide Metro is supposed to be investigating a new ticketing system.

[COM] Re: #PRO: Victoria Square Upgrade

It's really up to the State Government to pull its finger out and allocate some funding ($100m at the least) to the project. Ultimately, however, I'd just like to have a firm proposal/masterplan that we can work towards. Funding can be sorted out later. And truly, we can always wait until such time ...

[COM] Re: New balconies for Adelaide Station?

I'm glad to hear they're continuing plans to move. I've never been comfortable with having a casino in that location. I understand they're looking for a purpose-built facility, but I again put forward the Sir Samuel Way Building as an option (providing it were vacated, of course). Failing that, some...

[CAN] Re: #U/C: The Precinct - 5 19 lvl - 62m towers

I always knew that it would have an appalling street frontage, but I didn't expect that it would end up looking like a cheap school block. Again, appalling. I was going to say that the Council should force the project to continue as per schedule (and the developers to accept a slightly lesser take i...

Re: Adelaide's empty buildings

Asbestos was an issue in the Air Apartments redevelopment, and yet it managed to get done. Indeed, it's surmountable. Someone to put up the capital is all that's required, but for that someone there must be incentive. Is there really no market or is the cost/benefit simply too unfavourable? Are the...

Re: Adelaide's empty buildings

This is something I've been curious about for some time, so thank you whomever it was that started the thread. Some of the buildings are real treasures -- surely they're attractive for residential refurbishment? What I do wonder, though, is why they're vacant: I've heard that asbestos is an issue in...

:? That second sentence implies that the more appealing parklands are less appealing. I think.
He's talking about the showrooms, I'm fairly certain.

Re: The Murray & Securing our water supply

Here's a link to a more complete article by ABC News: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/03/23/2523795.htm Basically, the Commonwealth is putting up $200m to contribute up to half the cost (I believe) of state, local and private sector projects in stormwater harvesting. So, hopefully, we should...

Re: [] News: Adelaide City Council

I feel like I'm still coughing up dirt... Was that held at the same park that Soundwave was held at? My shoes were full of dirt after that concert, so I would imagine that the park wouldn't have recovered by the Future Music Fetival... I'm fairly sure Soundwave was one of the festivals in Bonython ...

Re: "Vision for Adelaide" - Adelaide Infra. & Parklands Pro.

It's truly heartening to see people in the community being proactive in their compassion for Adelaide. It really seems that more and more people are starting to speak up about their hopes and visions for the city, and that can only bode well for the future. So, congratulations on your document (thou...

Re: City's new festive hub planned

I need more details to really figure this proposal, but I would have thought that it'd be better to overhaul the Festival Plaza (and surrounds -- obviously, Elder Park and Riverside, but even Torrens Parade across the road) and re-invigorate that as a central events hub. I mean, do we want to concen...
