Re: Crane Counter: CBD 12 | Metro 3 | Total 15
We might peak with the crane count when new W&C hospital is under construction (perhaps 4 cranes??) and the aboriginal cultural centre is as well. Possibly sometime in 2023-24? I think by the mid 2020’s Adelaide will be really humming with the N-S tunnel well underway and new post-Covid projects...

I can’t remember what the renders looked like for this building, but the actual building with that articulated glazing looks fantastic!

The best thing the designers did with this building was leave the gaps between the fins. It allows sunlight to pass through the gaps and gives the facade much more interest.

[VIS] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital
We love carparks in this city don't we. Sent from my SM-A505YN using Tapatalk Yes, too much. However a hospital absolutely is one of those cases when it's justified. Expansion of structures into parklands areas like this are exactly why we should be looking at returning areas like the proposed aren...

Re: New City Arena
Perhaps they will. But, the issue for many people isn't that something is to be built there, the issue is priorities, as discussed throughout this thread. That's the first issue, and imo the most important. Sporting venue that nobody has asked for at 3/4 of a billion, or fixing the health care syst...

Absolutely spectacular. I love it. From its form to its interaction with the adjacent botanic gardens. I also really like the naturalisation of the foot path in front. Phenomenal outcome! 100% agree. Fan-bloody-tastic design! Let’s hope it doesn’t get watered-down. The collaboration between top-cla...

Re: New City Arena
I don’t understand all the hate, especially on a development forum! People on this forum have been crying out for years for a CBD-based multipurpose arena. Now the government is seriously proposing one on the riverfront, and there’s a tidal wave of whingeing! In really simple terms, this arena is e...

Re: Cheap Airport O-Bahn
Adelaide doesn't have a dedicated public transport corridor from the airport to the city. Fortunately, there is a corridor used for a drain that goes between the airport and Mile End. This drain can fit a cheap O-Bahn that takes buses from the city to the airport, bypassing all of the traffic. Kesw...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
The proposed building itself is unique but it needs to be positioned back from North Terrace. Additionally, the theme of a consistent plane tree lined boulevard on the northern side of North Terrace will be broken due to this building being too close and their proposal to put native shrubs and pool...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
In fact if you compare this design to their original white box design of Adelaide Contemporary, you realise that they’ve just taken that design and made it sexier.
In any case, it’s worked.

I also love the design concept! This really could be an iconic national building. I’m glad Woods Bagot are the architects. The SAMHRI building has demonstrated that they know what they’re doing if they have sufficient budget to work with. Way, way better than the designs in the Adelaide Contemporary...

The streetscape level with the red brick arches looks fantastic. Really says “Adelaide Central Market”.
