[U/C] Re: 181 Waymouth Street | 53m | 17 Levels | Apartments
It's seemed like this one has been very slow so I hope it now gathers pace. For comparison, O'Connell Street's crane went up about the same time (Jan last year?) and it's more advanced on a much bigger build. Indeed, basement notwithstanding, this may soon be lapped by Victoria Tower on Grote which ...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy
A summary from the GARP re: public transport. A summary of responses to the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan Discussion Paper was released on 22 December. Many submissions referred to public and active transport, infrastructure, housing and greening. The specific discussion of Public and Active Trans...

Re: the ramps, is there any reason you've not included landscaping between the ramp and fenceline? A nice planting scheme, climber or hedge would go some way to softening the intervention and reducing ambient heat on North Tce. In terms of symetary and material, not much fussed, but I do think bronz...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
IMO aside from being very exposed, the tiers are not deep or levelled enough to offer decent sight lines, and in any event, view only towards a bunch of utitlity boxes: https://i.imgur.com/ADUxEqg.png I had a look on the way past this morning and it appears the utility boxes have been moved. It mus...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Metropolitan Developments
That's a crazy underutilsation of the West Lakes land in a housing crisis. Waterfont and 10km from the city! But apparently the ample detached single storey character of the neighbourhood has to be protected? This government's attitude to development is not fit for the times. I was a resident of th...

Read yeserday that local (and Australia's only) PV manufacturer Tindo Solar is pitching to build a solar panel gigafactory (i.e. Tesla scale) but is looking at sites in QLD and NSW. This would be far above their current SA capacity. Begs the question of why not expand here? Hope the SA government is...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million
To be honest, when I first saw the current configuration I actually thought it was an amphitheatre type outdoor event space... And they actually should turn it into one when they get rid of the ramps... That's what I presumed its intention was too. I do quite often see people sitting on the tiers l...

There’s some work happening to the building on site (windows have been removed, inside looked gutted). I couldn’t tell if it was the start of demolition, but perhaps this is finally underway. I think it might be for this: https://citymag.indaily.com.au/habits/plate-and-cup/sofia-hutt-st/ Oh, my bad...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
It’s just a rehash of old news. Talks about the gpo, Mosley square and little national on north terrace but does not mention dates for any of them. It also mentions the Panaroma Hotel development at the former Tafe on Goodwood Road, which I somehow missed or forgot about. Can count that as the firs...

The government will spend another $34 million on the Festival Centre to upgrade its fire system to current standards, which inexplicably wasn't done when the Centre was closed for more than a year during the last upgrade. https://indaily.com.au/news/2023/12/21/ev-subsidy-axed-in-sa-budget-update/ O...

This refusal was appealed and apparently a compromise was settled between the proponent and the SCAP. Needs to be signed off by the ERD Court, and some Nimby's are still to be dismissed, but it seems this one will go ahead. https://indaily.com.au/news/local/2023/12/22/secret-agreement-to-revive-reje...
