Re: Henley Beach/Grange | Developments & News

Basically nice thought but totally unlikely in reality.... The cost of the land alone would be many millions (and they struggled just to fund the actual building for many years when there was no land cost). Further its extremely unlikely the owners would sell ( I haven't seen a freehold site there e...

[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m

Anyone know if the video screens are definitely going to be new ones and if so their size.
The reason I ask is I hope they don't just move the old ones from AAMI here.....

[COM] Re: UC: Torrens Footbridge | $40m

I totally agree...it seems absurd if this is not addressed or changed drastically before the footbridge opens. If anyone knows of the future plans for this area please let us know as in its current state it truly is a disaster...

Can only assume the end with the glass and umbrellas represents the Parade end ...but who knows? Nice design but out of character I think for the Parade.....trying to think what type of mid rise building would work here ain't easy though.....

[SWP] Re: #PRO: Former RAH Site (Design Competition)

I think the biggest problem will be the economic viability of it.....look at the wine centre almost next door.....that cost taxpayers many millions and then it was sold to the Adelaide Uni for like $1 because of the lack of profitability and the basic costs to run/maintain. I hate to say it but unle...

[SWP] Re: #PRO: Former RAH Site (Design Competition)

I agree we don't get the tourist throughput but I guess if there is nothing for them to come to visit/see in the future why would they come anyway.... Bit like the chicken and egg scenario ... what needs to come first? I know if Melbourne never built Crown, Fed. Square, Docklands etc etc.... tourist...

[SWP] Re: #PRO: Former RAH Site (Design Competition)

Do you think a 5 or 6 star hotel like a Hyatt On The Park would work there and gain public support?

Or what about a London Eye type tourist attraction coupled with 21st century amusements/entertainment/high tech rides etc to make it more a tourist precinct?

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

Can someone also try to justify the purpose or rather massive expense of elevating the train line over South Rd ( and onto Queen and Elizabeth St) Croydon when the 2x3 lane tunnels will be going under it anyway? Also with the Park Tce train connection (where Clipsal /Bowden village is) will this sec...
