Construction of a ten storey building comprising basement car parking, education centre, laboratories and offices with associated landscaping and
the construction of a three storey educational building comprising classrooms laboratories, gymnasium and associated passive recreational areas -
Stage 2 - Substructure and lift core

Development Site
2-30 Angas Street
ADELAIDE SA 5000

Owner : CATHOLIC CHURCH ENDOWMENT SOCIETY INC
Is that the RSL site? Can we list it now as approved at 10 stories?

Ah of course, now it makes sense! I was thinking it was on the other side of the road, and thought it was interesting the the chruch was behind both the tram depot and the RSL.

Disregard, I'm just an idiot. :(

However I am confused with the height of Santos; are you sure it is 64m?

I ask because I'm pretty sure it is only 13 levels, wouldn't this make it around 50m?

Actually to all you people the santos building is at the moment adelaides tallest building it has to be over 18 floors cos that is how much the hilton has and the hilton is a piddly little thing so you need to do recalculations about the whole level thing and yeah

Oh and soon the santos will be a piddly little building because if you didn't already know they are making adelaide the sky scraper capitol of australia which they are in the process right now if you didn't notice all those extra cranes on those already built buildings.

Far cry from skyscraper capital of australia. The cranes you see are for the current round of mid-rise buildings around the city.

Btw, welcome to the forums Tidus0.

The santos building has to be over 18 floors it is way tallker than the hilton and the hilton has 18 and plus if you look at the picture it has 12 floors visable with plenty of space underneath not visable

What sort of theory is this?! How old are you? One obviously has not travelled very far if you would call Adelaide any sort of skyscraper capital. There are two cities in Australia with buildings that are more than twice as tall as any in Adelaide, and maybe in the next few years possibly a third.

I'm sorry to disappoint, but there are no buildings any higher than Santos that have been approved or under construction. The tallest going up at the moment are some 30 metres shorter than the existing tallest.

EDIT: I see where the confusion is now. Will is talking about the new Santos HQ going up on Flinders Street, not the current building in King William Street.

Sydney has around 1000 high rise buildings. We have 106 high rise buildings. Who is going to build the extra 900 towers? :o

The existing Santos Hose building on Currie Street is 31 floors, and will remain Adelaide's tallest for some time to come. Santos, the company, are moving out of Santos House into their own new building on Flinders Street, which is currently under construction and will be 15 floors tall.

The buildings with the cranes in your picture were the City Central building, which is new and almost complete, and the old Advertiser building, which has been demolished and is to be replaced by another office block.
