Shows how much the city has changed in 10 years from Pikeys comment in 2005

the new render doesn't show the Urbanest student housing building under construction on North Terrace. Tey needed the additional height to get more clearly atop of that...

i always hoped that this one would come back from the dead.

So that means that in the way of >100 metre buildings that have been announced we have:

- Festival Plaza Office Tower
- Echelon Tower 1
- Echelon Tower 2
- Sofitel Tower
- Kodo Apartments
- 11-27 Frome Street
- 51 Pirie Street
- Renaissance Arcade
- University of Adelaide Redevelopment

Things are looking good

Uni Adelaide is only 90m and there is no specified height on the Festival Plaza building.

According to the Advertiser the Frome Street is 140m but it looks like they have made that figure up themselves... pure professionals they are
You thought that was tall, take a look at this: Who will win race to build Adelaide’s tallest building?

Sam Kelton, City Editor, The City
October 5, 2016 8:45pm

Adelaide’s tallest residential building proposed for CBD heart adjacent to Rundle Mall under $100m city project

A NEW city development is claiming it will become the tallest tower in Adelaide as plans for a 40-storey apartment tower on Austin Street formally submitted to the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure for approval.

The proposed Realm Adelaide will be the first Adelaide project for award-winning architectural practice Elenberg Fraser and will rise 132 metres and span 40 levels to take out the city’s tallest building honour.

Formerly billed as the Eclipse Project, the residential complex was to be 94m and 29 storeys high but plans have been resubmitted with much bigger ambitions.

Featuring 320 one, two, three and four bedroom apartments, including two double story penthouses, the $100m-plus Realm Adelaide project promises to bring a five-star hotel-like living experience to the city including a rooftop spa and wellness facility.

Situated above the existing Renaissance Arcade, which faces a makeover under the proposal, it would be transformed into a dining and retail precinct designed to reignite the vibrancy of the Austin Street area.

The development would also revive Assay House, built in 1858, by restoring the facade with plans to add a bar and restaurant, including outdoor rooftop terrace.

But it will be a race against time to be the tallest.

While the Frome St would have less levels, if approved, it would be slightly taller, at an estimated 140m.

Each would nudge out current champion Westpac House at 31 storeys and 132m.

Vue on King William apartments is currently our tallest residential building at 85 metres and 28 storeys.

Elenberg Fraser founder Callum Fraser said that Realm Adelaide signalled an architectural

evolution in South Australia, which was long admired for the innovation of its built form

environment.

“For our first project in Adelaide we feel a great responsibility to create a building that will

stand the test of time and herald a new era in local architecture,” he said.

“Realm Adelaide pays tribute to both Adelaide’s past and its future through its form which

pinches at the point where the city’s existing skyline finishes, and where its future skyline is

emerging.

Westpac House is currently the tallest building in the CBD.

“This is a building with a great past and we hope a bright future in Adelaide.”

Mr Fraser said its golden geometric form would stand out on the Adelaide skyline, creating a “strong architectural statement in the city.”

Sales for Realm Adelaide will commence upon approval.

This would go a long way to changing the Adelaide "big country town" stigma! Fingers crossed this one goes ahead

Not the biggest fan of the design, but more for what it does for our image.

I really hope this one goes ahead.
