Just to make sure I passed by again last Friday. There is definitely no action at this site unless James Hindmarsh and the real estate putting up signs counts as construction. From Ward St there is just a stone clad shed then inside the gate there is a gravel car park and on Brougham Place there is an abandoned single story house. The sign states construction to commence March 2020?

I am still not convinced that anything is happening on site, I think it should be listed as MS (maybe soon).

According to the 'Tiser this build starts mid-late June. Bit of advertising fluff showing what the apartments may look like.
SA’s priciest penthouse build creates 500 jobs

NORTH ADELAIDE’S skyline is set to change as construction on the luxurious complex The Brougham kicks off on Thursday, creating 500 jobs.

The 49 Brougham Place complex’s penthouse – if it sells for the asking price of $6.3 million – would shatter Adelaide’s apartment record of $5.2 million for the Realm penthouse in June 2018.

The Brougham was officially launched last August and is targeted at the luxury downsizer market.

It will consist of 18 homes – an original refurbished three-bedroom villa at the front with a complex of 16 apartments and the penthouse set behind.

The Brougham head of sales Julianne Price said construction starting had been eagerly anticipated.

“It’s very exciting news. We’re on track, our buyers are anxious for us to get going because we had a COVID-19 delay, but everything’s locked and ready to go forward,” Ms Price said.

“We’ve sold 10 out of the 18 and we’re very happy. The average price is $3 million, and to sell 10 of them is pretty darn good in Adelaide.

“It’s been one of the standout projects of the past 12 months because of the price point and because of how long they have waited for this project to come online. A lot of the buyers live locally and they just love North Adelaide and the position, and they jumped in as quickly as they could.

“Almost everybody knows everybody else in the building, so it’s a real local project and a lot of them are either North Adelaide people or have a connection to it.” Apartments start at $2.49 million and have combined indoor and outdoor living spaces between 235sq m and 255sq m. Each residential floor will have two homes. Buyers are able to merge them if desired.

The 649sq m penthouse across levels 10 and 11, will feature two main living areas and adjoining terraces, three bedrooms, a study, three full bathrooms, and an exclusive rooftop entertainment area with outdoor kitchen and bar.

The development is a joint venture between Brown Family and Hindmarsh. It has been designed by architects Pruszinski PACT Architects and interior architects Williams Burton Leopardi.

It will also feature a private yoga studio, a residents’ lounge and dining area with a fully-equipped kitchen, a concierge service and a two-level underground carpark.

One of the building’s highlights will be a secure temperature-controlled wine cellar, with a 170-bottle space for each apartment. The penthouse buyer will have a 1000-bottle allocation.

The project has an expected 18-month build time.

It's an amazing location and view, but I wonder if they are being optimistic with that penthouse. Assuming the other tower goes up next door there will be many windows a few meters away looking down into the penthouse. Still a stunning home, but misses a lot of what usually makes penthouses sell for record amounts.

Does anyone know if the other 2 stages ( tower 2 and 3 ) are still on the cards for a later release or has this development been down graded to just this one tower?

Thanks
