some pretty intense debate here regarding the Festival Centre, which is great to see (although wrong thread). For anyone interested, I would highly recommend checking out the Hamer Hall Redevelopment in Melbourne by A-R-M. Great example of how you don't just have to replace everything with 'modern parts' and shinier glass etc. There are some great photos of it on ArchDaily (just google Hamer Hall ArchDaily)

Of course it needs some love, but for it's time it is a magnificent building and probably the best in our state. Saying it has no architectural merit is pretty poor and arrogant on your behalf.

So, the bridge...

Given that the waterfall and coloured lighting have been tested, we can't be too far away from completion on this?
Looked like soil is going in on the city side, so looking forward to seeing the plants and landscaping works finished.

The fully clad bridge supports look stunning from what I've seen on Instagram. Can't wait to see it all lit up permanently and the water features flowing.

Was having a bit of a nosey on the footbridge yesterday, does anyone know what the landscaping plan is for this area here? Looks like it will probably be some kind of water feature flowing down the small steps.

Nort, from what I can gather from the plans/renders:

- landscaping and garden beds down the eastern side of the stairs
- trickling water feature that flows down through the garden beds along a stepped stone structure
- water collects in a pool when the stairs flatten half way down (and water flows under a small bridge over the pool between stairs and Festival Centre alfresco deck)
- water carries on trickling down to river level with a few jets here and there

I think that's the gist, but if there's anyone 'in the know' feel free to chime in with specifics!

That's about what we figured from looking at it, thanks.

You can see the artwork lit up on the bistro wall - looks great!

Good news, Nathan.
The lighting and water feature should be the 'icing on the cake'!!!

Will check out the Blue Hive and the finished product after the match on Saturday.

Additional from ABC news report.
Torrens Riverbank bridge lights and water features to be switched on
Lighting and water features on Adelaide's new $40m footbridge over the River Torrens will be switched on this weekend.
There will be an official celebration on Saturday afternoon on the banks of the river, before the Crows play North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval.

There will be a pop-up bar, food and entertainment at the Riverbank precinct and the lighting and water features will be officially switched on at 6:05pm.

The South Australian Government says the LED lighting will create stunning effects on the bridge.

"This is more than just a crossing, we have created a piece of infrastructure that has transformed the Riverbank precinct and opened up the CBD with its proximity to the Adelaide Railway Station, tram stops on North Terrace and re-emerging laneways like Leigh and Peel Streets," Infrastructure Minister Stephen Mullighan said.

"The opening of the redeveloped Adelaide Oval and AFL matches on evenings and weekends has boosted the number of visitors to the precinct."

The minister says the bridge has been completed within budget.

Whilst the crossing is complete and usable, the finishing touches are still being done. The lighting and water feature have only just been completed and they are still working on the surrounding areas such as the northern side linear park shared path. Once it is all done, the "road block thingos" will be removed. I don't know when it is due for completion, but I imagine it will be soon.
Correct, that's what I was meaning. Sorry if it was confusing!

Workmen busy under lights at 10.30 pm tonight. Southern landscaping looking great. Should be a seriously spectacular event on Sat.

Hoping that the Adelaide City Council comes to the party and switches on the old Torrens fountain to complement it. It's been off for over a year now.

Wait... what? Where did the garden planting come from? That's supposed to be a water feature.
