Fantastic! Glad to see it being relocated elsewhere where it will get more notice.Llessur2002 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 9:30 amSignificant changes planned for the northern edge of the University of Adelaide North Terrace campus - the heritage fences and gate on Victoria Drive are being removed (the gate being located to the Frome Street entrance just east of the Barr Smith Library) with various landscaping work to be undertaken to open up this edge of the campus.
Works due to start Q4 2019.

I know that capital works are on hold for the foreseeable future at UoA, but just came across this masterplan fly-through with some pretty stunning visualisations of how much impact this would have on the city if/when realised:

That's the same video that was released 5 years ago. It's a shame nothing has come from this, it still looks great.

Minor update but the gradual restoration of Union House is slowly marching on. The ground floor looking out onto Barr Smith Lawns has now been opened up to be the outdoor undercover space it was originally designed to be.
Some more details on the project are here: https://www.adelaide.edu.au/infrastruct ... unionhouse
On another note, I've just discovered the online portal for searching the University of Adelaide's special collections - there are some amazing photos of most of the University's buildings throughout various stages in their existences. Well worth a browse if you're that way inclined.

After a couple of years of COVID-related inactivity, the campus redevelopment work seems to be spinning up again. The most prominent project is the continuation of the opening up of the northern campus boundary along Victoria Drive. More fences will be removed between the footbridge and Frome Street, with the research ponds etc removed to make way for a pedestrian walkway:
The old bike shed will also be removed to create a new student space and entrance to the Barr Smith Library just south of the Barr Smith lawns:
