COM: Glenelg Entertainment Complex
Re: Glenelg Entertainment Complex (New Magic Mountain)
But Liberty and the pines are going to block the view.
Sure this is going to be a nice family attraction at Glenelg (which it badly needs), but its not going to have any cool views (except the beach) it needs to be taller. I bet its going to be a rip off aswell.

Your right about the vegas site, just makes you realise how much more cutting edge and modern design some of the buildings are going up around the world. I apologise to go off topic here, but for those interested check out this $7 billion Las Vegas City Centre.

Re: Glenelg Entertainment Complex (New Magic Mountain)
Supposed to be going up in October...apparently council held up approval with engineering concerns.
Re: Glenelg Entertainment Complex (New Magic Mountain)
Finally some good news regarding the feris wheel.
According to the Messenger, construction has finally begun on the $1 million, 25m ferris wheel.
It expected to be operational by mid-October, and a competition will be held to determine who will be the very first people to ride the ferris wheel.
The Messenger reports that the ferris wheel is 'an engineering feat', as unlike traditional ferris wheels which are supported by 8 legs, this one will be supported by just 1 large column. As a result engineers have had to be brought over from Europe and Asia to assist in its construction.
Rides will cost $5, and the ferris wheel will be operational from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Sunday to Thurday and from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm Friday and Saturday.

Re: Glenelg Entertainment Complex (New Magic Mountain)
This is the third time the Messenger has announced construction has started.

I was there on tuesday and no progess semmed to have been made....
Re: Glenelg Entertainment Complex (New Magic Mountain)
It appears that construction of the new ferris wheel has finally commenced. A larger area has been fenced off, and the surrounding grass has been cleared.

It always makes me laugh to see how narrow-minded the Messenger reporters are!
How it can be an "engineering feet" when it's already been done on a much bigger scale numerous times all over the world is a bit beyond me!
Anyway it's good that it's finally going up.

Is that old building.... with the mural going to make way for this developement?
what is it anyway lol????..... If its is not of any significance I'd like to see it go.
Once the wheel does go up.... I'd like to see the area done up... the colley terrace walkways are pretty dodgy and the rotunda could to with a abit of a tidy up!
