That's great Scooter Guy - where/how the hell did you find it?

Some of the people in that ad are still there too, minus the big hair and shoulder pads.

This was uploaded by a South Australian user known as 'd0nkeyshines'. He has a big collection of ads, indents, etc.
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.

It was more of general statement about these mega shopping entres.

Westfield posted a loss last year, because of their huge debts due to construction. Which is crazy when you consider their Aussie opersations are near 100% occupancy, and their rents are famously expensive (omg my business sold $4m of stock last year!....but I made a 40,000 profit, omg whats going on (you wouldnt believe how often this happens))

DFO is another example, although different circumstances.

James, you might be our next Mayor but you wont be our next CPA at this rate. You do realise the effect of asset devaluation on profit figures don't you? Westfields business as such made a profit, just that the asset write-downs causes a loss on the profit and loss statement.
That's why when the commercial property market turns around causing an increase in property valuations Westfields profit will ramp up again.

Is it a hammerhead or a luffing crane?

I usually wouldn't ask, but I'm over in Perth at the moment.
Walking on over....

Hammerhead mate, I drove past very early this morning and the boom was not up, but I was
surprised to see fixed crane on a smaller scale project like this.

I can't honestly say I looked into it a whole lot, just I know they fund alot of their expansions with debt. I understand a devaluation of an asset affects profit. However I assumed due to the increases in costs of funding major projects etc that it affected their bottom line. Did they write down their US business? Cause their Australian arm still has near 100% occupancy?

Myyyy bad.

None th less Its a shame they charge huge rents, the retailers do the hard work. But thats business hey.

correct. it's a pretty huge crane. emphasised by the fact that in it's present location, it sticks out like a sore thumb

The boom is massive... it was reaching out over the road when I drove past.

From yesterday - the site is irregular, roughly L shaped & extending from Sydney Street across to Portrush Rd, & then south along Portrush.
A receiving bay is in Sydney Street & the crane can place materials on most of the site. Large tree is on an "island" of soil in what will be the
basement car park.

(not entirely accurate, as eastern Sydney Street footpath is closed for receiving bay, and site extends further south along Portrush)
