It bothers me that extending the line wasn't factored into the current redevelopment, likely because of indecision about the Outer Harbor branch generally.

Also Sanyo Shinkansen in Japan was completed in 1975. The Tohoku and Joetsu lines also started in 1971 and took the entire decade to build (both opened early 80s. Further lines were only delayed or scrapped due to mounting debt, not due to PT being out of favour).

In Adelaide, the Noarlunga Rail Extension opened in 1978, after works to extend the line from Hallett Cove.

So...2 weeks before Keolis Downer take over the trains, and they don't have enough staff, and haven't got regulatory approval to operate?

Moscow Metro, metro. Lots of lines opened in the seventies. Prague as well.

I was wondering what work they were doing over there. Hopefully this gets done in time for when the line opens up to Mawson Lakes at the end of April.

Seeing as the masts are up between Mawson Lakes and Salisbury now. There's a Youtuber that makes videos of the freight side at Parafield Gardens and you can see the masts are now up in that segment of the line. We are getting closer to those electrics running on this line.

Do we/they have the new trains to operate on this line yet? When are they scheduled to be received?

According to this week's Bunyip Newspaper SA Structural Steel one of the businesses working on Gawler Electrification Project is currently in administration.

It is a complete travesty that this has been allowed to happen.

Privatising important public assets serves only the outdated ideology of a dangerous political party.

In this specific instance, Liberals. We notably have them to thank for the sale of ETSA and privatising operations of SA Water as well. The only reason SA Pathology wasn't privatised was because COVID proved just how successful it was; the Lib walked away with their tails between their legs and quietly forgot about privatisation. But Labor is also guilty of privatising public services and is currently being a bit hypocritical over PT privatisation; they went through two contract re-tenders for the buses and kept them privatised, but suddenly privatisation is bad for the trains and trams?

Privatisation only works for the new company to gain a profit out of the asset that's being privatised. Public services aren't there to make money, they're there to provide an essential service and if they do make any profit then that's an added bonus. The only way privatisation of public services can be profitable is to cut services/quality, make redundancies and cut back in other areas to save money.
