That's awesome! I was hopeful that the promising signs from the building boom in Adelaide of 2013 wouldn't die down.ghs wrote:Next year looks so promising for the CBD, with Vision, ARIA and the RAH continuing

Palladium on light square is also a possibility.

Cranes are not really my favourites on the skyline when I take photos but their presence means change.
The taller the crane, the better I like it in the end

I've made this list of current proposals for Adelaide. I've included Vue because construction hasn't started
yet. I've put the developments which I believe are most likely to go ahead at the top of the list. I believe
that the top 8 developments are all a very good chance of going ahead.
Vue - King William Street
Unisa Centre for Cancer Biology - North terrace
Adelaide uni Building - North Terrace
Central Adelaide - Grote Street
115 King William St
Adelaide Casino redevelopment
Palladium - Light Square
New Mayfield
U2 - Waymouth Street
East Park - Dequetteville terrace
Palladio Angus Street
135 South Terrace
261-263 Pulteney Street
Queen Adelaide Club - North Terrace
Currie / Rosina street
199-200 North Terrace
203 North Terrace

Re: Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 9
Vue and University of Adelaide are both underway now. So that's 2 already, and judging by the length of site for the new Adelaide Uni building we MAY see two cranes. I think the next two after that will be 115 King William Street and the University of South Australia medical building. However, good signs for the proposed Currie Street Hotel, so lets hope that goes in the right direct.ghs wrote:I've made this list of current proposals for Adelaide. Dvious, the Unisa building will not start until the middle of next year, the developers of Central Adelaide and New
Mayfield have both said that construction will start this year. Whether this will happen or not, who knows....
In terms of the new hotel on currie street, looks good but still a long way off at this stage.

October. Of course that will include demolition of existing site, site works etc, but possible we will see a crane go up
before the end of the year.........hopefully.
Re: Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 8
There's a crane base tower going up just west of Hutt Street. What is this?
Re: Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 8
Is it off of Hutt Street across from the petrol station? If so a friend was the architect for the building, i cant remember if it was 8 stories or more. But it may be that one.
Re: Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 8
its going up on a vacant block of land on Hume Street, which is in between Carrington and Angas Streets, just off Hutt. The crane dominates the area because there are no buildings this high in the entire district, it looks about 8 storeys. Great to see

Re: Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 8
looks as if it maybe serviced apartments. I'm actually quite positively surprised this was allowed to go ahead, but IMO a good height for this area
Re: Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 8
The crane that was recently at Mellor St (off light Square ) is now being erected in Hume St (just South of the Hit St / Angas St Corner. I was not expecting this one.

Re: Official CBD Crane Counter Thread - 9
Ben, the crane at Mellor street came down several weeks ago and has resurfaced at the 8 level building currently U/C near Hutt Street. There are also 4 cranes at the new RAH site.
Looking forward, I anticipate cranes will soon be erected at the new Uni of Adelaide medical school as well as the last stage of the Convention Centre redevelopment. Construction should also commence soon on the first stage of the new Mayfield project and Palladium on Light.
