As said previously, it's a shame the glass cut back on the upper south levels couldn't be replicated on the northern side. Still, it's a
nice addition to our skyline.

Very funny better choice of words would be that the allymac has been dismantled and brought down to level 9 of the building. So it'll probably be gone at the end of the week?monotonehell wrote:It goes up and down, it's an elevator.timtam20292 wrote:The elevator infront of the building that the workers have been using has been coming down.

Alimak is the company that does most of the construction and industrial lifts around Australia.

Went past today and both exterior elevators have been fully dismantled.

Work is now underway to complete the installation of the remaining front windows now that the exterior elevator has been removed.

Picture from today. The southern face looks a tad disappointing to be honest. It has that glass chamfer, but other than that it's way too bare and probably won't be built out of view from Victoria Square for a few more decades, until that Adam Internet(?) building is torn down, and even then something fairly tall will have to replace it to cover this one out.
One positive is that it pops up over that ~70-75m high wall of buildings when the skyline is viewed from the east.
Also my third anniversary on this site since I posted a crappy picture of 379 KWS. Yay.

Unfortunately the Adam internet building next door is strata titled (each floor owned by separate owners). So this could be as good as it gets.

Noticed a white structure is now on the front of the building, not sure what it is. Also they are working on the shelter (bit that sticks out over footpath).

What did you expect? The renders clearly showed blank northern and southern walls.slenderman wrote:The southern face looks a tad disappointing to be honest.

You're pretty snarky, aren't you, Patrick?Patrick_27 wrote:What did you expect? The renders clearly showed blank northern and southern walls.slenderman wrote:The southern face looks a tad disappointing to be honest.
Yes, I know it was a pretty silly comment in hindsight, but the point is that now it actually exists outside a computer screen and the reality is we're stuck with a, big, largely blank wall fronting Victoria Square for who knows how long. Clearly they could have made that wall much less ugly by giving it more glass than just the chamfer, but they decided not to, and whoever is supposed to approve this didn't consider these things/didn't care.
Can only hope it sets a precedent and maybe it's more likely to be considered in future developments before approval, but I won't hold my breath since most buildings with this problem are approved anyway. I look forward to complaining about this with Urbanest next.
But beggars can't be choosers, hey?
[COM] Re: 115 King William Street | 91m | 26lvls | Office
It won't be considered in future development assessments because there's no criteria in the development plan (against which these proposals are assessed) to have set back or attractively designed boundary walls. Currently, the only potential for them to be formally critiqued is in the pre-lodgement design review, but as I understand it, that's a process with no binding powers.
I feel it's time that changed.

Are you referring to the tri-coloured, windowed wall with top glass chamfer as "largely blank"?slenderman wrote:...we're stuck with a, big, largely blank wall fronting Victoria Square for who knows how long...
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
[COM] Re: 115 King William Street | 91m | 26lvls | Office
I don't dislike it as much as I thought I would. With the potential PO development in the works and more glass towers going up around this, it could grow to be a nice simple addition to our skyline.
