International passenger numbers have quadrupled over the past 20 years and are currently growing at about 7% annually. That's hardly a disgrace.

Fiji Airways withdrew as well as Air Asia. Bankgok is the world most visited city and we don't have a direct flight there.
China southern were very slow indeed to start here in Adelaide. Adelaide airport have been talking about a direct flight to
the US for years but the american airlines want nothing of it. I think it's embarrasing for Adelaide.

Hopefully this will increase our profile and create some opportunities?

I spoke too soon - great to see that Adelaide will spearhead the new-format Virgin lounges!

Adelaide airport pty ltd and the state government must be disappointed with the lack of interest from international airlines.
If you look at how many international airlines there are flying to Perth it really is embarrassing how Adelaide has struggled in this area
in recent times. Air Asia pulled out and we don't even have a direct flight to Thailand. I think the growth in international destinations has been an utter disgrace.
Perth's distance from the major east coast airports and closer proximity to Asia and Europe make it fairly obvious why there would be more direct flights there than Adelaide.

As already mentioned by Patrick_27 and Algernon they have a geographical advantage. They also have population and disposable income on their side. Adelaide has to do a combination of things if it wants to attract more international airlines, firstly create more work opportunities for those already here and secondly get a bigger piece of the immigrant population and lastly keep hammering away we are a destination worthy of a visit.

People aren't gonna come all the way from Europe or North America just to visit Adelaide. They're gonna start in Melbourne or Sydney and work across.

Many tourists drive the Great Ocean Road and stop here for a couple of days, then go on to Uluru or Perth.

The increase in population and the demand for travel as well as technological advancements mean we need to work really hard to attract international flights to Adelaide.

Maybe within the next 5 to 10 years, when we have ultra long haul aircraft, we could have non-stop flights from Adelaide to a number of European destinations including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Athens and Rome as well as American destinations of Hawaii, Los Angeles and Houston. Non-stop flights could also free up seats on existing international flights from Adelaide, as well as the possibility of more route options using short to medium range aircraft.

We need to be capitalising on future growth potential. This does include better marketing on flight routes, our city and its regions, and upgrading airport facilities. Adelaide should not be a forgotten city, we should be selling our image and our offerings to a greater global audience, and be more competitive with the other major cities in Australia.

A new identity for Adelaide could also help as well. Building new theme parks in northern Adelaide, further developing the Riverbank precinct (particularly the western end) that includes new tourist attractions and bidding for major sporting events up to and including the Olympic Games could really boost the number of international tourists and flights from Adelaide!

China Southern will maintain a 5 weekly service Guangzhou – Adelaide between 14 December 2019 and 16 February 2020. This instead of a previously filed 7 weekly.

The airport webcam is still not properly fixed-picture is still very blurry-obviously management of the airport don't check on its webcam to make sure it is correctly functioning.

B&W!!! It's not a still image. It refreshes as normal, but it's not its usual angle. Downloaded at 00:32, 22/09/2019.
