Hey guys, I produced a short video tour of North Terrace last week. I wasn't sure where to post this, but considering that Adelaidean and Realm both feature prominently, I thought adding it to their respective forum threads would probably be most appropriate.

I am surprised they have just painted it all white. Considering also it is heritage listed, I would have thought they would have been required to re-point it and highlight the original bluestone etc.

Agreed. Beyond tired of seeing everything just being painted white or dark grey.

Was it raw stone, painted or whitewashed in its heyday? Back when it was new, it's possible that unpainted stone was seen as unfinished.

Stone was sometimes painted in buildings of this period although AFAIK less commonly in Adelaide. They certainly weren't whitewashed though. This (and especially the Old German Club on Pirie) would look much better if the mouldings and frieze were detailed in a different hue.

This would look ok if they painted some subtle highlights or something - hope it's not the end state!

The arcade entrance looks complete but remains unopened. It doesn't look particularly inviting either.

I thought the old stone building would become some sort of commercial space, but at the moment it remains a shell directly open to the utility area/car space.
