$98m seems like a lot when you consider they’re spending $84m on a complete rebuild of the Morialta campus for the new Morialta Secondary College which will cater for 1,200 students, am I missing something here? I also note that that a lot of these new schools or major upgrades are happening in safe Liberal electorates…

The article mentions the departments intentions to build a Prospect secondary school when a site that meets their criteria becomes available, what of the site that Kaufland recently sold?

Probably a dumb question, but where do these kids go out on their recess and lunch breaks? Do they just go to the nearby parklands like Botanic Gardens, Grundy & Frome Gardens or do they have their own designated open space area on school grounds like other schools? I'm assuming this is the area to the east and south of the school.

However, cramming another 700 students in what very little space there is with no consideration for additional reserved open space seems like poor planning to me - I would have thought physical and mental health and wellbeing would be the primary design element in new school developments.

Labor have come out and pledged to follow through with this if they are elected, both parties are on board so expect to see this one move pretty quickly if they have any hope of achieving their open for 2024 goal - you would need to expect shovels in ground by June at the latest to be even remotely possible - final tender acceptance not likely until after the election though.

ACC spent nearly 10 years and millions of dollars turning the old IMVS car park that sat in between the Adelaide Uni med school and the Reid building into a (not very good) grassy park, and now its all going to disappear under a building ...
(expanding the school is good, it's ACC's utterly wasteful incompetence that was bad)
