BankSA signage went up on the west face today.

Wasn't Westpac meant to be moving in to the building?
[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Tower 1 | 115m | 27 Levels | Office
They own Bank SA and have Eastern facing signage so 4 different brands on this building. Looks Terrible.

It is going to be interesting how all these new people to the area lift the offering.
I mean Banks aren't like the 80s anymore so probably not many long lunches and after work drinks, but there should be a few people wandering around

A friend of mine recently worked (resigned last week due to lack of hours, lol) at Station Road Restaurant (same owners as EastEnd Cellars) located at the bottom of this building, apparently day/night trade (even over the weekend period) has been minimal. The owners were approached about opening the venue with the desire that it be of a high-end offering.
I think this is just another example of how poorly planned this precinct is. I get Walker/State Government's desire to offer high-end dining experiences in this precinct, they want a Southbank (Melbourne and Brisbane) or Darling Harbour vibe. But then, in this case, the one building directly associated with this precinct that's intended to supply the regular clientele is predominately made up of university students and staff who don't meet the criteria of these desired clientele. Now imagine if this building didn't just have the one restaurant... Meanwhile, the Tap House below the Dunstan Playhouse continues to thrive with its limited menu offering and relatively well priced beer offerings.

Tap House has a degree of visibility and passing trade. Venues like Station Road and Home Ground feel so hidden away. Most people walk through the station to Adelaide Oval or into the city and never set foot in the wider precinct. Even the doors to Flinders Uni in the new building are close to North Terrace and the station entrance. Maybe the new building will help change that?

The high end/high priced venue is struggling, the venue with the reasonable prices isn't, in the midst of a cost of living crisis it's not surprising.Patrick_27 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 4:02 pmA friend of mine recently worked (resigned last week due to lack of hours, lol) at Station Road Restaurant (same owners as EastEnd Cellars) located at the bottom of this building, apparently day/night trade (even over the weekend period) has been minimal. That's my point. Not sure who or why the powers that be are trying to lure in clientele that simply isn't there at the volume that they require it to be, especially when the Casino is already offering that. I'm not saying put a row of Pasta GoGo or Brunelli's type bistro here, but the best and more unique hospitality businesses that Adelaide has to offer (I think) are those that tap into the street food setting putting a local spin (be it presentation or simply using SA produce) on foreign dishes. After all, it's why the OzAsia night markets do so well and why the Garden of Unearthly Delights do thrive as a place to eat and drink. If I could get a coffee with a loaded panini or chilli con carne to go for $17 to $25, you'd have me sold. Just the same as if there was a venue offering the knockoff specials that The Guardsman in the Railway Station put out on a Friday night, I'd be a regular. It's also less insulting on the average person who is getting steamrolled by the cost of living crisis, hell, they might actually be in a position to enjoy these amenities if the price-point was more considerate of their wallet.rev wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 4:36 pmThe high end/high priced venue is struggling, the venue with the reasonable prices isn't, in the midst of a cost of living crisis it's not surprising.Patrick_27 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 4:02 pmA friend of mine recently worked (resigned last week due to lack of hours, lol) at Station Road Restaurant (same owners as EastEnd Cellars) located at the bottom of this building, apparently day/night trade (even over the weekend period) has been minimal. The Westpac signage is now installed on the eastern side of the building. Can't say I recall a development with more signage than this....

It’s far too crowded with signs if you ask me.

Looks so bizarre. Really a testament to it's construction. Completely sold out with no identity build by questionable means.
You've heard of RAA Place here
You can recall Salesforce Tower in SanFran
But nobody can memorise the DeloitteFlindersWestpacSA Building on full display.
Maybe Delinderswestsa House?

It's the placement of the branding that bothers me because there isn't any sort of symmetry and it's blatantly evident that beyond Flinders Uni and Deloitte that the further branding was a money making afterthought, probably conditional of Westpac/BankSA moving into the building.
In terms of the placement, had they either centred the four brands on each face, or had each brand to the furtherest right of each face, OR like they have done with Flinders/Westpac, done the same with BankSA/Deliotte and had BankSA on the north-western corner, it would have probably turned out OK. But the BankSA placement is fucking weird. Hell, why not put Allianz up there as well?
