The title of the thread has been changed because BH are on site, they are the construction firm, and they've said that this tower has commenced construction.

I do agree though in other cases though that demolition doesn't always suggest construction is immediate. Hence the Franklin St twin tower and the Hills KWS towers have not been changed to UC.

Thanks lads.

OK, that makes sense.

This should be another fast construction and will really start to make an impact on the square.

Bring on the bulldozers!

Major demolition work commencing as we speak. This building should be down by the end of the weekend.

Pretty decent for one city.

Great pics Howie, love seeing cleared sites and the new perspectives of buildings that have been there for years but we never get to see from that angle. It is a typical Urban Construct/BH site so far with quick progress.

From these images you can see how big the 1991-built Pulteney Street ATO is. Now that was a nice allotment! Nice pics Howie.

The 1991 ATO building seen is an example of what the ACC should go
out of its way not to approve anymore and that is stumpy low rise fat buildings...

I actually like the ATO building. Sure it it short but at least it does not have ghastly green glass or blank concrete walls. Furthermore it is not a box, but has an interesting roof line and detailed facade. Sadly the same cannot be said about many of the buildings of today.

All too true Howie. Exemplary architecture makes a huge difference to a city. (Eg the Currrie St design).

Side note: the potentially-useful toilets on the ground floor of the adjacent 151 Pirie St. building (KPMG House, I think) are always locked, much to my chagrin.

It looks like piling work has commenced on this site as of today. Might see another crane sooner than expected.

You have to give it to UC, they don't piss fart around do they...

UC are pretty good in the way they appoint builders etc. Look at the way this site has progressed in a matter of a couple of weeks, as well as their Balfours site, compared to the Hindmarsh sq or the conservatory building.

Will be great to see the square finally surrounded by some decent sized buildings and the increased volume of people and activity.
