The boom on 20 HS went up today.

Does anyone know of any other cranes likely to be installed over the next month or so. We need one to replace
Lot 8 as this will surely be coming down soon.

I was wondering is there only like 10 cranes total in adelaide and they have to be shared around?. It's like a project has to wait before another project is finished with a crane.

Shuz has taken up on two jobs of late, and is rather busy nowadays trying to squeeze in his overtly active social life and working commitments. I hardly get around to doing my 'extracurricular activities', such as the spreadsheet. But now that you speak of it, and it is the new month and I don't start work till three. I shall get to it today.

From Shuz's Top 10 (on the spreadsheet), I extracted the buildings that have actually been completed:

Westpac House 135m 31 Office 1988
Telstra House 104m 24 Office 1987
Grenfell Centre 103m 26 Office 1975
SA Water 96m 22 Office 1991
Hyatt Regency 87m 24 Hotel 1989
ANZ House 84m 21 Office 2004

Only ANZ House has entered the list.

I wonder if there is another capital city in Australia that can claim to have a largely static skyline since the 1980's?

FFS!!! Bring on Currie Street and Spire!

On the spreadsheet Gallery and Lot 8 are listed as complete, but this is not the case. Both sites have cranes.
Also SA Water is still not fully complete either.

ANZ House was actually completed in 2007.

And regarding the static skyline comment. If you look at Perth's top 10, you to will see that they too have had only one addition this century with Woodside Tower. In fact Perth shares a common thing with Adelaide in that it was devoid of any high-rise construction for a cosiderable part of the 1990s. In fact a high-rise building was not built in Perth between 1992-1999. This is similar to us, because we did not have a high-rise building built between 1993-1999. And further, Hobart hasn't had a high-rise building built since 1992.

Well, what should we determine as a 'complete' building?
  • 1. That its been topped out - core & floorplates
    2. That all external works (facade, windows, etc.) have been done
    3. Or that all internal & external finishings (lighting, fitouts, etc.) have been done
At the moment I'm going by option 1.
