What's Happening in Adelaide
Re: What's Happening in Adelaide
Honestly though, SkyShow was just a commercial event, and even though the fireworks were nice, I'm not sure the government should be blowing money on an event which won't see much benefit to local business.
Re: What's Happening in Adelaide
They do in Darwin and Canberra!, there is always fire crackers going off (even in the city area!)... sometimes feel like your in a warzoneShuz wrote:Fuck the Government. I say we get some fireworks of our own and do it ourselves.
I like the idea of having night time fireworks on Australia Day, never really liked the idea of having 'daytime' fireworks. However a combined Skyshow/Australian Day celebration could be a deadly combination...

ACT has now banned them IIRC.

Yeah. Even before the ban, you were only allowed to use them two nights per year.Hooligan wrote:ACT has now banned them IIRC.

Most events appear to be centred on the Lighthouse area, and a highlight will be Luminosity - Light Up The Port! on Saturday 10th October
Luminosity - Light Up The Port
Sat 10 Oct
The Port Festival presents Luminosity - a must-see night of light, music and circus, featuring laser light show Fish Opera, never before
seen in South Australia.
For a taste of what's to come view the Fish Opera video. http://www.portenf.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=1569
As heartwarming and humorous as it is breathtaking, Fish Opera will treat you to a laser light cabaret of sea creatures performing operatic anthems on the Port River. Created by Laservision, this international award-winning tour de force uses high powered lasers, architectural lighting, surround sound and digital image projection. Magical for adults and children alike!

If anyone is interested in getting some funny photos of zombies taking over Adelaide, the annual zombie walk is happening tonight at 7pm, starting in Rundle Park then spreading down Rundle St. This year over 1000 people have signed up to do it, and they all take quite an effort to dress up like the dead.

Fantastic - who organised this event? i've not heard any publicity about it? love to see some photosjk1237 wrote:If anyone is interested in getting some funny photos of zombies taking over Adelaide, the annual zombie walk is happening tonight at 7pm, starting in Rundle Park then spreading down Rundle St. This year over 1000 people have signed up to do it, and they all take quite an effort to dress up like the dead.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Awesome! How did it go?jk1237 wrote:If anyone is interested in getting some funny photos of zombies taking over Adelaide, the annual zombie walk is happening tonight at 7pm, starting in Rundle Park then spreading down Rundle St. This year over 1000 people have signed up to do it, and they all take quite an effort to dress up like the dead.
There's an annual zombie walk that happens over here in the Fremont neighbourhood - apparently they tried to set a world record this year with 3,400 people. Well, since people keep saying that Adelaide's an "above-ground cemetery", maybe we should prove them right and take that record for ourselves!
Re: What's Happening in Adelaide
hold on, hasnt happened yet Its only 4:22pm as I type. Im going out for dinner and Ive tried to convince them to eat somewhere along Rundle St, so I might take my camera, and a Jesus cross
As far as i know its simply organised on myspace and facebook. Started a few years ago with about 50 people, then got larger and larger.

It's not till tonight... I think the timezones are screwing with your head
Re: What's Happening in Adelaide
Just got home from the zombie walk. It was epically fun. An hour of delusional mindless zombie-walking, scaring the shit out of people, climbing phone boxes, jumping on car hoods, screaming and stuff!
One thing I give Adelaide people kudos for is their innate coolness to laugh it off and go with it. Everyone had fun, some people bemused, expect a lot of Youtube videos up shortly. It'll be on the news tomorrow too.
