[COM] Re: U/C: South Road Superway | $842m | 3km
I went through the Southern section tonight, and add I was going past Sunnybrae oval, in the new southbound carriageway, a child (maybe 14 or so) was walking across the road to get to the oval. He'd already climbed over 1 wall and intended to climb the other 2.
I was the only person around so he would have been fine, but I'd hate to see anyone try this when there are hundreds of cars per hour driving 90 through here. Iwonder if there are any plans to prevent it, as the oval is completely inaccessible from anyone heading south without doing a u turn.

Looking forward to a free-flowing Adelaide!

For what it's worth, part of the Superway is visible (for a brief few seconds) from the Gawler line around Dry Creek. The truss is visible from even further.

Looks like we'll be getting electronic overhead speed limit signs. Sorry for the low quality photo taken from my phone.

I'm a little skeptical about this opening in December. Southbound opening in September I can believe, but northbound, they haven't even started the new connection to Salisbury Highway at the Northern end, and going along the PRExy, it looks quite clear that the end of the superway won't link into the current bridge.

Northbound access to Salisbury Highway from South Road will be closed off from tonight.

For how long?Brucetiki wrote:Northbound access to Salisbury Highway from South Road will be closed off from tonight.
I know they often close it off from 6pm till 6am.
And at times they close one half off and open up a lane on the other side to get around the work they are doing..but that's before Grand Junction Rd.

That section will be closed until December. I guess they need to finish that interchange soon.

Video from Saturday, this time showing both directions. I've also cut out the useless parts this time.

Thanks for the video.
Would be great if someone had access to nearmap to get a plan view of the thing.

Open day on the 25 August. You can walk on the roadway from the golf course to north of Grand Juction.

Having viewed the project (southbound) this week, there does seem to be a worrying lack of viaduct segments on the northbound carriageway south of the Salisbury Highway interchange in relation to a December finish.neoballmon wrote:I'm a little skeptical about this opening in December. When complete, the Superway will link into the current bridge over Salisbury Highway, but only as a temporary arrangement prior to the construction of the Northern Connector. The bridge abutment on the Superway has been designed to connect with the future Northern Connector Bridge. When that is constructed, the existing bridge will be demolished.
I also note that the existing connection north bound from South Road onto the Salisbury Highway over the current bridge has indeed been closed.

Ah I didn't know this. Well that fills me with more confidence then. Yes it's closed since last month until December I believe, so until the road way opens. Which I would now assume is to link the roadway to the loop.drsmith wrote:When complete, the Superway will link into the current bridge over Salisbury Highway, but only as a temporary arrangement prior to the construction of the Northern Connector. Is several years short enough to be 'temporary'?drsmith wrote:Having viewed the project (southbound) this week, there does seem to be a worrying lack of viaduct segments on the northbound carriageway south of the Salisbury Highway interchange in relation to a December finish.neoballmon wrote:I'm a little skeptical about this opening in December. I am assuming that the northern end of the completed Superway will connect to the existing South Road/Salisbury Highway interchange, yes?

Call me cynical, but we are in election mode. Could there be an announcement?
