I reckon this sudden burst of apartment development in the city is really great. Something we desperately needed.
It is a step towards a "Higher Density Adelaide" and I believe this high-rise fever will be spreading to the suburbs soon no doubt!!

Well, I'm not so sure about any high-rise being constructed in the metropolitan area just yet. There are some opportunities in Wayville and Keswick where low-rise development (typically three storeys) is allowable.
High-rise development will only occur in metropolitan Adelaide when the land values demand such high intensity construction. The other consideration is that there are many Adelaideans who simply do not want to be overshadowed by high rise buildings.
For the short term future, high rise will remain in Adelaide City, Glenelg and Port Adelaide. Satellite cities such as Noarlunga, Salisbury and Elizabeth may also develop centres which are appropriate for mid rise development.
Despite all of this, it is great to see more intense development of the CBD - something we should consider as being "the norm".

In light of the 20-22 Currie Street decision, wherby the council and the airport approved a 123.7m tall building (20m above the height restrictions), I hope that the developers behind Spire, submit the original 105m proposal for approval.

Amen to that! A group of 30+ storey buildings would make a major change to the city skyline.
I understand that one of the city central buildings could eventuate as 30odd floors, depending on the ground floor size available of the site in question (building size suggested at 30000sq m. If floor area is 1000 m there is the 30 storeys).

Hey, guys. Don't know if this is the right place to put this, but I was thinking it would be cool to see a 3D sketch up of Spire in Google Earth. If anyone has the time/inclination it'd be really cool to see.
P.S. I know it's a hell of a lot easier for me to ask someone else to do it than do it myself, but 1. I'm retarded with computers, and 2. I don't know anything about design/art/architecture. Just a suggestion anyway
. I don't know if it's even possible ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

In the latest property report emailed today. It reports Spire as now being 32 levels. The design still looks the same at this stage.
They are asking for money to secure an apartment without really providing much information.
Price update:
1 bedroom apartment - $299,000-$600,000
2 bedroom apartment- $420,000-$900,000
2 bedroom sub-Penthouse - $1,500,000-$2,699,000
3 bedroom Penthouse - $3,199,000- $3,599,000
Theres goes my chances.

My chances also. I was hoping they would be a lot cheaper than that. And again, I still think we should ban the development of 1 bedroom apartments in the CBD. Hopefully that would bring the entry level price down.
Every time I get closer the goal post is moved on me.
