I thought the woman before him was more so a loser. He just stated the facts and said 'oh well, so be it.' Good attitude. The woman on the other hand was all over the place, in the same breath she said that she didn't expect them to finish it over the weekend anyway and then complained because they hadn't. Then rambled on about "them" not finishing South Road and called it 'pathetic'.
Many of the design elements remain the same as the earlier design. The major difference is the overpass structure will now be more open with eight spans rather than the four originally presented. Following community feedback the proposed car park beneath the structure will not be provided as part of this project. Water sensitive design and landscaping features are integral to the design, with some textures and creative elements in the lift and screen structures to give some interesting visual contrasts to the clean, uncluttered design of the bridge structure.
I hope they allow room for south road to expand i.e extra lane on each side. It looks like those massive concrete supports get in the way of that and could be costly in the future.

That was my first thought - looks like they want to keep South Road at 4 lanes. Same with the underpass (although if they ditched the bike lanes and replaced that wide median with a concrete barrier, it could probably expand to 6).
Makes me wonder why there's no foreward thinking with this, yet the northern connector is planned to be 8 lanes...

Wow, synchronicity at work again - did you catch that little grab at the end
As part of the extension, the Fielding report also recommended that King William Street become a transit mall for buses and trams, but where cars would be banned.
I don't suppose this report is now on the public record somewhere?
Haha, I couldn't help but laugh at the "transit mall"! That would seem soooooo wierd to not have cars at all on KWS, and it could have caused a few problems given that KWS is pretty much the CBD's main road...
It would have been interesting if that had of been built though. In my opinion, if it was constructed then we would probably almost certainly have a tram line all the way through to Adelaide Oval and North Adelaide, given that they would have already extended the line half way there.

It will be filed alongside Jan Gehl's report, Thinker's in Residence reports, old Vic Square Proposals etc in some dark basement in an unnamed Government storage facility never to be seen again!
Saturday, August the 1st. The foundation for the main pier on the eastern side of South Rd can be seen in the foreground.
Pacing out the dimensions from outside the fence I'd estimate that it contains around 80 cubic metres of concrete along with the thickest reinforcing bars that I've seen.
Take note of the stubs of the old track under the third and fourth concrete traffic barriers.
The track closest to the camera will have to be relocated a fair way towards the camera in order to accommodate the island platform.
