Would be the biggest waste of time/money and land. A league crowds are down and the demand for a rectangular stadium is not there, if its to be done it has to be done proper. A multi purpse stadium or nothing.
Here, Here mate!

As if the government would build a major stadium right next to a hospital in what is Australia's arguably most conservative capital city. Almost makes me laugh.

But again I hope Adelaide United pulls a huge crowd on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval just to once again prove that sport played near the CBD (Soccer, Footy or cricket) is far better than in the suburbs. If the last time these 2 teams played at the Adelaide Oval's anything to go by, than the atmosphere before, during and after the game in the city will say it all.

yep - agree 100%. Keswick is the perfect location. Also could buy out Le Cornu's to have a massive site (perhaps including a residential TOD)...
Why would you want Lecornu's to be bought out and moved?
Because the buildings and associated car park site are probably the ugliest I have ever seen. Something has to be done, either fixing up the car park or demolishing it, but it can't stay the way it currently is.

History would suggest that when Lecornu's moves we get left with a black hole on the landscape that wont be filled for more than 20 years
History is so yesterday. If the Le cornu site was purchased by the Govt then it could accommodate a Hospital (in a reasonably short timeframe) and be an attractive site for Developers to locate a TOD. It's all in the marketing...

Such an honour to be quoted as mono's signature!

Now 'bout them railyards - would it make sense to locate the casino there as a part of an entertainment precinct? maybe even integrated into a new stadium! It would certainly drag people up that way each evening, and even help generate more tram usage!

Quite some years ago - about the turn of the century I think it would have been (2000), some developers came forth with those plans for a waterfront casino, hotel and apartment complex on the railyards site. It was reproposed again in 2005/2006 I think, but both times quietly got withdrawn. Neither times were the proposals actually 'submitted', but again not entirely 'shelved'.

In my opinion this is the answer to the western railyard eyesore. This may be a once in a life time oportunity to put something of great stature and iconic significance on that site, before its too late.

This will make an impressive entrance to the city coming from the north.
The Marj should be built somewhere else.

I thought there was a thread in here somewhere with more photos. I remember from the West Tce side it was largely parklands leading up to the hotel "proposal".

That 'thread' is this thread. You merely have to search the back pages.
Here's that render you speak of, from the Port Road view.
