Also, as gas is now to attract pariah status ( Victoria in particular) but now many new developement are banning gas connection to promote “ green” credentials, have you estimated what effect the removal of gas would have on the equation? Gas may not be an option for individual households in future.
My electricity used for summer and winter are very similar.
91 days between May 2024 and Aug 2024 August my electricity bill was $0 and I was in credit. I can no longer view the pdf to get an actual breakdown of costs.
I believe I got $200 credit for switching to the provider. Plus I would have got $75 from the government. So I assume costs were just shy of $275 which left my account in credit. Plus solar feed in which is not much during winter. Lots of self consumption from solar and battery, but not a lot of export.

I am no longer with that provider and took the next deal available from the next provider.

Regarding gas. I believe my electricity bill would be lower than my current electricity + gas bill.
But the initial outlay for a new heat pump hot water system and new heater means it isn't a simple problem.

I haven't crunched hypothetical numbers but my gut feeling is I can afford to wait for the natural death of the current appliances before switching. When the hot water system dies, probably not long, I believe would be when I switch it all to electricity and disconnect the gas.

Cheers for the update. Will be interesting to better judge when the dust settles on the rebates for switching etc. the reason I asked is that my neighbor is trying to convince me to take the plunge for rooftop solar… knowing I do not believe industrial scale solar is workable. They like to brag about their summer credit, but become a bit coy in winter. Of course the state and federal governments cost of living rebates skews the figures. I do find they are almost evangelical in their energy use.. running heating :cooling during the day, then refusing to turn anything but a tv and single light on at night. That to me is no way to live but each to their own.

Lol that you you think you're scoring a point by taking a thread further off topic with the "name calling" of trying to insult someone by saying they believe in vaccination.

How so though? Your “””comeback””” made literally no sense, how is believing in vaccination some kind of negative trait?

Strange, I would have picked you to believe in all that sort of stuff. Anyways, don’t you have a Q-drop to analyse or something?
