Don't have to get to aggresive here. It took place only 0.1 seconds, and after that it shows the entire Australian map. And that shot of our GPO isn't the best either.

It's not about how good the shot was. It's about principles. You show Adelaide in a TV ad so zoom out from Adelaide. This city needs to stand up for itself and make some noise! Noise = attention. There is no such thing is bad publicity even if it's over something petty, it gets people wondering what's happening here.

You are looking waaay too deep into this. It's a advert - and what's their goal? to implant a thought or memory, or even better to generate conversation about their ad!

Think about it, many people in Sydney will see the advert and wonder "now where is that building/street in our CBD?" and they may even talk with their family/friends about it...this is good advertising...

Not just Sydney residents to get the mind ticking over either. People in Melbourne will probably be wondering "where is that tramline?"

They'll just assume it's all computer graphics and a made up city.

I highly doubt the general public actually even analyzes ads.

I bet most just sit there either watch or don't watch and ignore anything besides the message.

Or believe totally in the sudden urge to buy when they have someone yelling something at them "LAST CHANCE CLOSING DOWN CARPET SALE"

At the moment there are some nice shots of Adelaide in the ads for this year's Census. In particular, a shot of the (now out of service?) orange trains (sorry, I'm sure someone else can correct me on the proper name ) and what really looks to me like Mitcham Train Station.

This is not the first time its ever happened. The 1990s children's movie "Napoleon" (about a golden retriever pup who gets lost) features skyline shots of Adelaide from the mount lofty area a number of times but later on shows Sydney Harbour (and they are supposed to be in the one city the whole movie).

There is also a Mazda ad which is fairly current that features a drive through the Adelaide Hills with the CBD in the background...
