Re: More Development for Mt Barker
I wonder when the public can see their master transport plan. I am interested to see how that will turn out. That ring road sounds good.

Re: More Development for Mt Barker
It wont be anything special, just probably a two lane road around the outskirts of Mt Barker - but its badly needed!. Plus the transport plan includes a freeway exit of Bald Hills Road.frank1 wrote:I wonder when the public can see their master transport plan. I am interested to see how that will turn out. from this weeks courier
Main street mayhem
Traffic volumes on Mt Barker's main street have already surpassed
experts' predicted levels for 2015.
A 63% rise in vehicle numbers on Gawler Street in just two years has
left a key traffic management plan out of date less than 12 months
after it was written.
The plan, noted by the Mt Barker Council in March last year,
predicted that traffic volumes on the one-way section of the shopping
precinct would rise to 5500 movements a day by 2015.
But within months - by July 2007 - they had already reached almost
6000 movements a day.
The consultants recommended in the report that traffic lights be
installed at the junction of Gawler and Hutchinson streets by 2015 to
cope with the increasing traffic volumes.

Is it me, or does Hahndorf suddenly look a lot nicer than it used to? I was there recently, and it seemed like it had been freshened up somewhat.JamesXander wrote:Mt Barkshire isn't that bad. And no I don't live in Barker

Over the years alot of the cheap crappy shops have closed, now alot of boutique (cant spell the word) have opened up. Including the famous 'udder delights'. The Hahndorf Inn is always being refreshed, and a supermarket is being opened up soon.
They are always replacing trees and planting plants in the street as well. They say Hahndorf is a little to commercialized (cant spell again ) which I tend to agree with.

I heard about it, but missed in on telly.
Completely off the topic, but remember a many years back when there was that missing person in Hahndorf, they ended up finding him in a dam, he drowned walking back drunk from the pub. Well that was right next to my old house. Kinda disturbing to know a man died right next to where you lived and you never knew.
