SWP.

I drove past at lunch time today and the demolition was going on.

Honestly, I still can't fathom why the tramline is being extended to the east end when everything is
happening in the West End.
So...
a student apartment building goes up in the west = "everything is happening in the West End"
two new tallest go up in the east + new high school + major urban renewal site = tramline to nowhere.

Demolition is definitely going ahead on this site but no time for a picture.

Not yet. It hasn't been approved. I expect it will go to DAC in November (as they want to start construction later in the month it has to) haha 12 month build will be one of the fastest we've seen.

So we can then expect it to look like an absolute dog box. :applause: :wallbash:

Possibly but at 16 levels it should blend into the background, although its close to the waymouth street monstrosity so maybe we could have an area called "little soviet"?

If this is 16 levels and occupies the entirety of the demolished space it is going to be huge.

Expected to be approved on Thursday.

https://www.saplanningcommission.sa.gov ... Part_A.pdf

Construction to start asap. To open in time for 2019 intake.

772 beds. 17 Levels 59m.

Not offensive for a student proposal. No blank walls. I think its a pass?

Basically it's a student accomodation version of the Ibis Hotel, with a green wall. Thumbs up from me.

I knew it looked familiar but didn't remember where but you're right. Its a bigger bulkier version of the Ibis.

Looks good to me, the green wall is a winner.

Not too shabby. Looks like two slightly bare/poor man's Ibis Hotels separated by a green wall. The green wall helps to break up the bulk of the building fronting Gray Street, which is a good thing.

Will look good when the plants are in bloom, although they'll probably use perennials which don't bloom very much to avoid constantly replanting them? I don't know, I'm not a horticulturalist.

Could be a lot worse. I feel that render of this nature doesn't try to sell it as something that it won't be. Cement painted walls is much better than the raw, mismatch finish we have seen with the two current student accom going up.
Far from great but solid.

I just hope the city doesn't become a haven of these projects. They are all so cheap. Though this is an improvement, it's hardly something I wont more of.
