I'm all for development etc, but I think its a disgrace that these trees were cut down. Such a nice littlr area, in the core of the CBD, nice big trees, shade open space and generally such a nice little spot totally ruined. Could have put this elsewhere. My fav part of the city is gone.

I agree. It's likely we'll see what was a pretty good public area become privatised. I'll probably have to buy a hot chocolate to sit at my bus stop in future :wank:

there was no real need to remove the beautiful trees. there is plenty of room in the CBD to develop. i remember going to that cafe and the courtyard as a child with my older sister.
fair enough everyone is upset.

The glass pods look good. It may even turn out to be an interesting development, but getting rid of this little green haven was a bad thing to do at a time when we need all the trees and natural shade we can get.

For anyone wondering, this is what is being constructed. Taken from their display in front of the site.
Current progress.

Are they painting or re-cladding the black box? That render shows the Grenfell Centre to be quite brownish.

I didn't even notice that till you said it but it definately is a different colour. That would cost a fair amount though.

They really need to fix up the top plant room. Putting the Oracle sign over faded plant room paint which still shows JLW sing behind is very tackey and noticable from many parts of Adelaide. They should fix that up soon!

No, the banner on the site is discoloured.

Big hole in the ground!
I'm somewhat sceptical about this development. Yes, the area was rather dated, but it was nice as open space.

Thought I'd start a thread for little things that don't require there own thread.
