Thanks for the pics again everyone, but am I the only one underwhelmed by this stadium? Yes the Southern stand looks spectacular, as does the emerging Eastern stand. But as these have gone up, it makes the existing Western Stand look completely out of place due to it being so much smaller. And then, the few shots taken from the Southern end looking North... well my thoughts on that empty Northern end are well documented here .. a real atmosphere killer. We will end up with a ground looking about as disjointed as the SGC, which is now one of the ugliest stadiums in Australia. My only hope is that eventually, either the Northern mound becomes a matching stand of the Southern end, to give the stadium some balance, or the Western stand is re-developed to match the Eastern side, also to give some balance. If the increased capacity is deemed too large for Adelaide, then maybe take some seats out of other areas to create more space.

Adelaide oval will look great, yes the members is lower, but it looks very similar to the Eastern stand, the roofs will be identical.

The grassed hill is nowhere near the size it used to be, as there used to be only 8 rows of seats now there is 18 rows. I wish they had built a northern stand too & got rid of the scoreboard but no matter what the Oval will be one of the best grounds in Australia to watch sports. :applause:

This, even before anyone has set foot in the stadium. Your views in no way have a basis in reality at this stage.

And remember the northern end won't be empty when there are 2,000 people on the hill and more in the seats in front of the hill:

Those are indeed great photos....taken from ground level. Reminds me of going to Adelaide oval as a kid when the SANFL was big. However....it is not the 1970's any more, most will not be viewing from this angle, they will be sitting higher in the stands, and to all those sitting in the new Southern Stand, looking across at....well trees, it will certainly diminish the cauldron like atmosphere that only a true stadium can bring.

It's not intended to be a true stadium and doesn't need to be. Give me this over the Gabba, Docklands and even the MCG, any day.

You build a northern stand and AO will become just another sanitised craphole.

You underestimate:
a) the football going public
b) the amount of super rainy Adelaide days
c) the drunken football going public

It won't be a problem. And if it is, it's what...2,000 people less?

Adelaide Oval >>>>>>>>>>>> the dog's breakfast at West Lakes.

Reminds me of all of those inane arguments I sat through at the members’ forums before the vote on to whether to let a redevelopment of AO to proceed. The amount of times that 'my view to the hills will be obscured' argument came up was nauseating. If you’re sitting in the southern stand and you’re looking at the trees on the northern end of the ground, while the game is on, there is something wrong.
