What a brilliant photo Andy! I'm really liking how this is turning out, it's already far more dynamic than Adelaidean next door. I don't even mind the contrasting spandrels now.

Count me on board with the "now I like this" group. I used to not like how it'd block Adelaidean, except that one has turned out more disappointing than we hoped so it doesn't matter if some angles of it are blocked and this one's finish is really good in comparison. With Adelaidean it creates a great imposing presence thanks to the its bulk and the sharp descent going north down Frome. It reminds me a little of the northern Melbourne CBD at the Victoria One and Aurora areas.

Adelaidian an doesn’t look half bad from this angle (compared to the western angle where you see those balconies and shape isn’t as flattering). It also looks a lot better when overcast or at dusk. The glass is darker and it’s somewhat reflective.

The discussions comparing this rising development and the neighbouring Adelaidean are indeed a never ending source of healthy debate.

I was always on board with both when renders were first realeased, and updates to both before construction kept my hopes high.

This development hasn’t disappointed at all and I’m looking forward to seeing it rise to its full height. I only hope it doesn’t appear too “top heavy” once completed...I would have liked to have seen the bottom more curved section replicated above it instead of straight lines taking over to the top, which may make it from afar look like how most Adelaide high rise cereal boxes end up.

The Adelaidean next door is a curious one. I recently stayed there and when the building is viewed from the streets below looking up, it can be quite striking and imposing at times.
However from a distance I find it quite a let down as it has an appearance of looking “unfinished” with its see through corner balconies, see through mid riff, and its rather unflattering top few storeys...at nighttime it’s a different story as all these flaws get swallowed up in th night sky....

Yes those see through cornet balconies kill it’s finish.

I love the bronze finish on this on though it breaks up all the blue glass.

I dont know how everyone here listens to themselves. None of these "developments" on (or near) North Terrace are any good apart from maybe Realm but still, that only gets a 7/10. In fact the only decent building in development right now is 75-79 KW but that's getting dumbed down as I type this. Tim's photo is a perfect example of the dulling of South Australian Architecture. It's literally like looking at a timeline. But everyone here seems ok with this.

It's like nobody here has left the state. The borders are open to other states people! Seriously, go get some taste.

It’s one thing to have an opinion, it’s another to be a total arsehole about it.

I agree with the previous comment, instead of being nasty and vitriolic with ones comments, the person before the previous comment might like to take a glass half full approach instead and offer some constructive criticism about what one has to say.

Being nasty serves no purpose in these threads...and to just blanket assume that someone has “never left the state”, and to say to someone “go and get some taste”, is a very foolish and presumptuous attitude, especially when you’ve never met the person.

We all know that this sort of attitude will end up with the thread being edited and comments removed....
