From Scratch has been operating on and off on Leigh Street for about a year now.

Here is a photo of the exact same stand taken in September 2011.

Last I heard those buildings are vacant because they're on the brink of colapsing and the owners can't afford to fix or renovate the buildings.

Pretty sure they were the subject of a DA last year. Not sure whether that's going anywhere. I'd be surprised if it is with the amount of emptys stores in the mall and Rundle Place coming on board.

I like the look of a new little New York style Espresso bar thats just opened in James Pl (former STA travel shop). Its already a popular spot. Will try a coffee next week

The all-white Caparezza? I've been there a few times already. Really nice guys, good coffee, and amazing pastries.

Talk about a Downgrade. Wonder what will happen to the current store (old Balfours cafe)?

Book boys now unloading their stuff in that recently refurbished shop opposite the old David Jones Building (Rundle Plaza), next to or near Country Road

Really? Looks only slightly more inviting than a hospital to me. I much prefer the look and atmosphere of the Fair Espresso coffeee shop a few doors north of it (not to be confused with Bean Bar located halfway between the two).

i too have visited the new Italian espresso bar in james place, 'Caparezza' i think its brilliant! the coffee is spot on and the food and pastry selection i agree is amazing. i think its refreshing to finally see a different look coffee place and not the usual ones we have in adelaide- bean bar and the like! i will definately be going back and recommending to my work mates. eddie

Wasn't there this push to unclad old facades behind ugly 60's additions not that long ago?

There is a heritage facade behind the Ice shop.

This is a step in the wrong direction. :wallbash:

well it is debatable. The new proposal looks nice and smart, and although Im for fighting to keep our heritage, I dont know if these are of critical heritage status. Well I dunno. I think someone posted on the previous page that there might be structural issues with the current buildings anyway

Big improvement on the current eyesore shopfronts.

Surprised they don't just merge the two sites into one.
