The airline will be increasng to 12 a week for 3 periods during December and January as well.
Here is the schedule from July 2013.

An interesting perspective on the above news about SQ adding additional daily flights and what it means for the token Qantas QF81/82 service (which i will be flying on tomorrow).
Some hours before Singapore Airlines yesterday rolled out a major fleet realignment for itself and Scoot it announced a further increase in Adelaide flights to 12 A330s a week from next July.
This makes Adelaide something of a template for how Emiroo, the intended partnership between Emirates and Qantas, is likely to be fight for territory with Singapore Airlines.
Singapore’s Changi airport is for Adelaide travellers, whether overseas tourists or Australian residents, an efficient hub for all of Asia as well as Europe.
Which Dubai, for all of its connections to Europe and Africa and central Asia certainly isn’t.
It is a geographical reality that means every seat on a Singapore Airlines, or future Scoot flight, to or from Adelaide, is available for a much larger range of needs than a seat on the non-stop Emirates 777s and in due course A380s, to Dubai and beyond.
Qantas has neither the intention, nor the equipment, to fly Adelaide-Dubai non-stop. It is in a state of capital light seizure, and it’s brand presence in Adelaide so far as international services are concerned, is toast. The Qantas message to anyone in Australia who doesn’t live in Sydney or Melbourne and wants to fly to Europe is to fly Emirates, subject to approval, from next April. Qantas isn’t the Spirit of Australia from early next year, rather than Qantas You will now fly Emirates, and when it comes to the huge potential for Asia travel to Adelaide, it is about to be totally overrun by competitors who seem to have a much clearer concept of branding, customer loyalty and relevance.
What Qantas is planning to do with a minimal international offering in Adelaide will only serve to reinforce the decision many Australian flying abroad have already made in choosing Emirates or Singapore Airlines as their preferred carrier.

Virgin Australia teams up with Tiger Airways
VIRGIN Australia has bought a 60 per cent stake in low cost carrier Tiger Airways Australia for $35 million.
The deal will allow Tiger to expand its capacity in Australia and offer more attractive offers to customers, Tiger said.
Tiger and Virgin said they would spend up to $62.5 million on Tiger Australia to increase its fleet from 11 aircraft to 35 by 2018.
Tiger will continue to use the Tiger brand for at least another 20 years.
Tiger Airways chief executive Koay Peng Yen said the deal with Virgin was a significant step forward for the company.

A 60 percent stake for $35 million? That seems crazy cheap even for a carrier like Tiger.

Its always more complicated than that.
For example it depends on how much debt the entity is carrying. As a simplification if they were carrying $35 million more debt than they are now, then the entity would be worth $1.

What isn't mentioned in that article is that Skywest has also been acquired by Virgin. This gives them access to the FIFO and charter market.
Also, can we please 'un-merge' the two threads? I setup 'Adelaide Airport & Airline News' as a thread to specifically deal with newsworthy developments at the airport and NOT one where everything from Airline wish lists and monorail connections are discussed. The 'Adelaide Airport & Airline News' is meant to be a source of information for anyone interested in newsworthy airport activities. Can I therefore suggest that the threads be un-merged so that the 'discussion' and 'news' threads are kept separate.

Hi bm7500,
I will look into this and resolve when I can get around to it.

Howdy bm7500,
After some review, I think the best solution is that I won't deal with picking apart the posts of this thread and merge into an existing topic or create a new one, but rather that I will keep a closer eye from now on on the sort of posts that are being made and relocate those posts elsewhere should discussion go astray.
Forumers, please take note that this thread is to discuss newsworthy happenings at Adelaide Airport and airline news & movements only.
For all construction-related news and discussion on the new multistorey carpark, control tower and pedestrian plaza, please refer to this thread;

Any wish-list and fantasy discussion relating to Adelaide Airport and airlines are to be discussed in the Visions and Suggestions forum - see link below.

Cheers

First scheduled Emirates flight arriving at 8:50 tonight. Anyone heading to the airport for a look-see?

Evening all,
EK440 operated by B777-300ER A6-EGI touched down at Adeladie airport at 21.05hrs completing is 12 hours 21 minute journey direct from Dubai. EK441 departed just before curfew at 2255, they have to be almost to the second in turn around time. Every bit of delay can be costly.
