Adelaide needs more variety in backpackers accommodation. So at four storeys, we could see something decent *hopefully*

Was walking down Rundle Street yesterday and noticed work had started on Union Street, i remeber there was a development floating around that spot where the graffiti was.

Yes, the work is using pre-fab concrete wall panels, craned into place with a mobile. It's popping up quickly.

Not that I could see. It's still there, but hidden by a new wall.

The ACC-sponsored development on Sturt Street was launched today.

It will be known as Ergo Apartments

From the ABC:
Project aims for affordable city living

Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood has launched an Adelaide housing development which promises affordable city living.

The Ergo Apartments in Sturt Street received federal funding and some of the accommodation will be set aside to be part of the National Rental Affordability Scheme.

Mr Yarwood said city living could provide cheap transport and entertainment options.

"We've received significant funding support to provide some affordable rental as well as some affordable purchasing, but realistically it's about living in the city and the fact you don't have to fill up your petrol tank and it's just a great quality lifestyle," he said.

"[It's about] being able to go to the Central Market and the lifestyle that inner city living offers and we're putting our hand in our pocket to make sure that there's housing available for future residents of the city of Adelaide."

The council is partnering with HomeStart to help people buy some of the planned 182 apartments.

"First home buyers looking to buy an Ergo apartment up to $400,000, who are eligible for the Government's maximum grant amount of $23,500 and the new stamp duty concessions, could get started with as little as $3,000 with HomeStart,” said its CEO John Oliver
