Are they a waste of time?

Is the state government turning the Obahn into a park'n'ride to the the north eastern suburbs?

Should all buses just terminate at TTP?

What should be done if the ridership falls off a cliff past TTP?
A new multi level park n ride carpark with 450 spaces was opened in Golden Grove a few months ago.

Those 450 spaces are free 24/7

There are clearly already issues with parking in the TTP precinct: The shopping centre wants to charge for parking to stop people using its car park all day, and the premier stepped in to prevent it, at the same time he wants the nearby hospital staff to have to pay to park near their work, even if public transport desn't operate on their timetable. This appears to be the council trying to discourage commuters from parking on residential streets.
There were huge issues between local residents and staff at the call centre in Modbury TAFE over on street parking.

The call centre is closing though, so there's a fair chunk of traffic that is going to cease.

At night time there needs to be a Lyell McEwin to Modbury bus service running every 30 minutes ideally , number it 547 or 549

From an unbiased perspective, what is the reasoning behind this suggestion?

The DIT won't fund additional services. This is Adelaide, not Sydney, or London.

How would you fit it in amongst two services per hour along Golden Grove Rd at night? By having additional J1s, it would cause a cessation of services from Greenwith after hours. The only access would be via the 415V which only operates a few times a day. In 2018 when TT took over LCB, there was a small surplus of kms, which enabled various services to be expanded a tiny bit.

But now, there is nothing to facilitate such an extension. The savings in operational costs with more electric trains in service will still not amount to another cent being spent on bus services unfortunately.

The website says it "will be built near the existing 700-park facility and increase the number of Park ‘n’ Ride spaces available to around 1,200." So 500 spaces for $43.5 million = $87,000 per space! Car drivers are not going to pay for it when they park and the extra fare revenue won't cover it. That money could fund extra bus services instead of being another subsidy to car drivers.

There are many lyell mcewin workers that are commuting between Lyell McEwin and Modbury at night, double backing almost , cos there is no direct bus route at night between the two places mentioned.

That's Adelaide though. Stuck in the 1950s.

How many, and why are they doing so?

As explained in video created by Neil Hamilton many hospital workers are parking at the Golden Grove Park N Ride because there is shortage of parking for staff at Lyell McEwin Hospital. They can get to Lyell McEwin via J1 but at night when they want to commute back to the park n ride there are no J1 bus services.

Adelaide's bus timetables are not good for anyone who doesn't work 9 to 5. If only one bus was a problem, they could park in the back streets along another bus route. It's not just the J1, none of the buses go to the hospital between 1 am and 5 am. Could they pay for parking at the Holden site?

The first sod was turned yesterday for the $43.5m 500 space TTP Park N Ride expansion. Expected completion in 2024.

For a while now Tap N Pay has been available on trams and for the past few weeks has been rolling out on the O-Bahn and should now be complete. All buses to get the green light by mid to late next year and if successful trains by 2026.
Metrocards which are on a separate reader will still be needed for concession rates but they are apparently working on a solution for this.

I have heard a few people over the years say the call centre is closing, but where is this detail?
All I can see is they are increasing hiring. Even on Seek at the moment they have lots of jobs listed for the Modbury call centre.

Datacom Connect is definitely not closing anytime soon. They're on a new contract for the APO and are actively recruiting.

A friend who used to work at their Noarlunga site informed that they are closing there.

Noarlunga (ATO contract) is closing, Modbury (APO contract) isn't, unless news about Modbury isn't out yet

Datacom lost the Centrelink contracta few months ago, and that was something like 2/3 of the workforce on site compared to the smaller Home Affairs contract at Modbury, and the even smaller again contingent of Datacom Systems people (who may have already moved elsewhere? Not sure, had zero contact with them and Home Affairs when I was there), and the 5 or so people still doing ADHA.

I also just learned the company lost the ATO contract, and everyone I knew who hadn't already been made redundant just got the chop.
