I never understood the ADL - MEL leg, thought it must have just been an empty plane (in this day and age!?) so they could centralise maintenance and crew accommodation out of MEL.
Feedback from those travelling from AKL - DIA was that they HATED the stopover in Adelaide, which is understandable when you've just made yourself comfortable on a 13 hour flight.
Hopefully Air New Zealand, Virgin or even Qantas step up with more flights. I've done the AKL leg on the A321 and its awful being a long, single-aisle flight with an additional toilet halfway along the economy row, and then people way up the back having to get off first because they're late for connecting flights to the US.
Personally I would love to see Emirates return to Adelaide and add a leg to Auckland, or better yet to Christchurch.

Qatar is utilising a loophole in maximum international flight allocations - there are limits on the number of international flight allocations to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth Airports for each airline. However, airlines can get around this by flying to an alternative airport (such as Adelaide or Darwin) to get around the allocation limit.

I've flown on that flight in both directions, was a good experience.
Qatar itself on the other hand was a pretty but vile place, and I do not recommend ever going there. If you have to go to the middle east, pick Dubai or Abu Dhabi first.

Looks like Cathay Pacific is coming back later this year...
Adelaide is scheduled
Cathay Pacific first served Adelaide in 2011. It ran until early 2020, with all flights by the A330. It is now expected to return later in 2023 using the A350-900.
According to OAG, the schedule in the first week of November is as follows, with all times local. To maximize connectivity over Hong Kong, it has a split schedule:
Hong Kong to Adelaide: CX177, 01:15-12:40; Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays
Hong Kong to Adelaide: CX173, 09:15-20:35; Thursdays, Saturdays
Adelaide to Hong Kong: CX174, 14:35-20:30; Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays
Adelaide to Hong Kong: CX176, 22:15-05:00+1; Tuesdays, Sundays

Cathay Pacific first served Adelaide in 2011.
Cathay Pacific was flying to/from Adelaide since the early 1990's.

Love Cathay. Great to see Hong Kong slowly reopening after Covid, and Cathay will be a great option through to Japan.
It also sounds like Emirates are keen to return at some point, but could be next (Northern) Summer:

So they will fly at about the same time as Malaysia Airlines. It makes no sense, if one of them flies in the morning, the other in the evening, it would be more convenient for everyone.

Great to see more airlines making their way back to Adelaide, the ticket prices for overseas travel are extraordinary. Hopefully this will create downward pressure on prices and thereby reduce inflation.

Singapore Airlines to increase Adelaide service by an additional 4 flights per week later in the year (Nov/Dec).
Not sure if temporary for the summer season or permanent.

Great to hear more flights to Adelaide returning. Does anyone know who to contact within an airline regarding corporate arrangements for large numbers of arriving guests? I want to see if they are willing to negotiate services based on being able to provide high volumes of passengers to the right operator.

Announced this week, Rex Airlines will commence a daily service from Adelaide to Sydney starting June 29th.

Booked return flights to Sydney for four people in July, $900 return for all of us. More competition on the route is great!

SQ276/SQ277 only fly in December and January (see below). Never in November. In the past, and we're talking a long time ago now, we had the second daily flight also during the northern hemisphere summer.
