Today was such a beautiful day for taking photos of the construction:

I know it's only a shell, but it looks brutalist which I'm kinda digging.

I work in the building directly behind this site and look down on it and have seen it increase rapidly in height. Its really coming along but I am nervous about what the inside the old GPO looks like especially the main hall part under the dome. Anyone know what it currently looks like and what the plan for it is? Just hope that its left intact and restored.
My understanding this might be phase 2 of the hotel project.

It will likely be ignored for years, and finally developed. It should really encompass the new lobby of the hotel and have bars, restaurant and some shops.
Was wondering what will happen to the original building when I looked around today, as it appears to be the site office at the moment.

I could only find this article that I missed a few weeks ago:

https://glamadelaide.com.au/coming-soon ... ce-in-cbd/

BESIX Watpac CEO, Mark Baker, said
“The new build sits on the site of what was an office tower addition to the original post office in the 1920s. The remainder of the building, constructed in the late 1860s and early 1870s, will remain with some sections being incorporated into the new hotel. Currently, new structural and seismic upgrades are taking place between the basement and the roof to ensure structural integrity of both old and new buildings – a major milestone to allow commencement of fit out.”

Greaton Regional Manager for South Australia Wendy Liang said
“Heritage works to strengthen and integrate the new hotel with the former GPO are almost complete.”

Are there plans to clean up and brighten the old facade?

And that laneway would be a sweet spot for small cafes and bars, even high end brands in boutique stores.

The core of this one must be close to reaching its final height.

It appears to have overtaken the GPO clock tower, which is certainly a visual milestone.

Are most or all buildings over twelve storeys or so built with a central core these days?
