Re: New City Arena
What Rev and Patrick say are ignorant and without evidence. The experts have said time and time again that the arena must be built to save the states entertainment industry or acts will bypass the state. This is an indisputable fact.
Cameron Hoy, Ticketek Managing Director of Australia has said that without the new arena, major acts will bypass the state altogether because the Adelaide Entertainment Centre is not a viable option.
“The proposed new Adelaide Riverbank Arena is essential unless Adelaide is happy to no longer be part of the contemporary live entertainment touring scene.”

When the advertising goes up that he "saved the state from covid' and the 17.9 billion infrastructure boost by the liberals, of course he'll get in. All Mr. Malinauskas has is that he'll bring back the Adelaide 500and scrap the arena tbh

Yeah A-Town ignore the haters, they gonna hate, baby you're a firework.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 9:49 amA-Town, don't bother. Those whingers are opposed to even a moderate development undertaken in the metro area, there's no point arguing. The Arena will go ahead as planned because the marshall government will get in easily. Very exciting!A-Town wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 10:40 pmThe AEC is a sub-standard venue, especially for concerts. A brand new world class facility that people actually want to visit that has a bigger capacity and excellent acoustics will hardly put a dent in Adelaide's chances of hosting more concerts.rev wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 5:01 pm
No it won't. What will attract more concerts is people buying tickets promptly not at the last minute if at all.
Its been said by multiple people here with industry connections.
One of the major issues is disposable income. Its a rare commodity in SA. It's a reflection of the economic and socio-economic situation in SA.
New flash venues won't change anything except the states debt levels.
However, I'm not sure if Steven Marshall will get in easily. He's been dealing with a lot of infighting with his party, especially with Vicky Chapman who is a big bag of high maintenance. Peter Malicoodies is looking a lot more stable. I still think both Liberal and Labor will support this project.

He may “know his shit,” but he also has a financial interest in this arena happening. Therefore his words should be viewed with such a caveat and not “indisputable facts.”VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:16 amFrom someone who has been in the industry for 30+ years, managed thousands of events for south Australia, and knows his shit louis.gnrc_louis wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:09 amA statement made by someone with an interest in something happening is certainly not an “indisputable fact.”VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:04 amWhat Rev and Patrick say are ignorant and without evidence. The Arena means tourism and revenue boost for events in South Australia. He's an experienced manager and wouldn't be supporting it if it didn't support the industry.gnrc_louis wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:24 amHe may “know his shit,” but he also has a financial interest in this arena happening. Artists don't bypass Adelaide because of venue size - it's because Australian geography is not conducive for touring artists.VinyTapestry849 wrote:The Arena means tourism and revenue boost for events in South Australia. Bigger tours can cost toward a million per day to run - performing or not.
Adelaide often gets skipped, but so do Perth and Brisbane for the same reasons.

Re: New City Arena
I'd love to give you some contacts in the industry, some of the promoters who are responsible for bringing some of the biggest artists to Adelaide, who've ran national concert tours, to call and verify what several people my self included have said, as being factual as opposed to the utter garbage you post. But I don't have the heart to subject those good, hard working people to an ignorant, clueless individual like you bothering them. They've suffered enough through this pandemic which has decimated their industry.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:04 amWhat Rev and Patrick say are ignorant and without evidence. There is waaaaay more to the "entertainment industry" than 10,000+ capacity touring shows.VinyTapestry849 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:04 amWhat Rev and Patrick say are ignorant and without evidence.
