I'd like to see one of the Woolworths Metro style stores that they have in the eastern states operating in the southern part of the CBD.

I'm pretty sure the size of those are comparable to the IGA that just opened.

The prices are normal Woolworths prices though.

A $10m high end commercial project set to redefine office space in the post-Covid era has been proposed for Adelaide’s East End.

Plans for a six storey building near the corner of Hutt and Flinders streets will create a “new standard” for city workers according to Diamant Developments’ Billy and Nicholas Diamantis.

Designed by Section 6 principal architect Alex Brown, the glass-fronted high rise would feature indoor and outdoor working areas, a boardroom, coffee and bar areas and collaborative spaces.

“My vision for this building is a beautiful, high end commercial accommodation building focusing on what I believe will be the new standard in a post-Covid environment,” Nicholas Diamantis said.

“I know many organisations have permanently moved to a hybrid model allowing some staff to partially or permanently still work from home thus not needing the larger commercial footprints that may have once had.”



Nicholas expected strong interest in the project as businesses reconsidered their needs and said the building would include standard offices and be suitable for medical consultants.

“This will allow an organisation to downsize its current premises needing less fixed desks due to working from home or large wasted areas such as boardrooms while having access to the shared areas on the top floor overlooking Adelaide when needed,” he said.

“We are also considering the first floor to be a working hub allowing for shorter term or ad hoc office rental again catering to collaborative working.”

The proposal comes after Adelaide CBD occupancy levels returned in May to levels not seen before the pandemic.

At that time Property Council SA executive director Daniel Gannon said the return of office workers was essential to ensure ongoing economic recovery.

The plan, which is currently out for public consultation, would require the current 47 Hutt St building, formally home to cryotherapy treatment business Minus 110, to be demolished.

I’ve been walking past this every day, but I’m not up to speed on the project. What exactly are they doing? Weren’t they already connected?

Edit: I just looked at Street View and satellite images and they indeed aren’t already connected. The buildings definitely gave the illusion of being connected, probably because they’re the same style there isn’t an accessible walkway between them.
