They provide an important connection to our history and a vital connection to the river. I like the contrast between the old and the new.
It's great to see recreational use of the river - rowing, paddle boats etc. During the recent Food and Wine Festival at Elder Park, the dragon boat races added a level of excitement and colour. Co-existence is key!
As Xaragmata's excellent photos show, the HMRI is an impressive building as a backdrop from the riverside, with the glamorous Convention Centre to one side and the heritage school boat sheds in the foreground with lawned area down to the river. A photographer's dream and sure to be one of the (postcard type) images which captures the charm and diversity of our city. It's a mix of styles, eras and function that works.
