Maybe NRM could merge with Steamranger and setup a museum at Mount Barker

The nitty gritty needs to come out and all has to be fully transparent. If a contract was signed how can this Govt terminate it? Who costed the project at $16m and what has now caused it to blow out 250%? Is the company that was awarded the contract now getting paid out [obviously a reduced amount] for doing nothing?

Something definitely stinks. The railway museum had their connection to the line cut less than two weeks ago, and concrete sleepers for the spur are already lined up ready to be installed. This wasn't a project still in planning.

LOL, and now Knoll is claiming they're not for the Port Dock project, but for Rail Revitalisation and projects like the Brighton Rd and Torrens Rd level crossings. That's why they're all lined up next to the Port Dock project.

The contract was awarded to PTPA (https://ptpa.com.au/) who have been awarded the contract for the North Western Planning Study. They are also carrying out the North East Public Transport Study and are constructing Oaklands Crossing, City South Tram Line Replacement and Paradise Park 'n' Ride all on a design and build basis. Surely planning studies should be independent of the design/build process.how good is he wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 10:38 amThe nitty gritty needs to come out and all has to be fully transparent. So disappointing. Even at $40M, it's still small potatoes (although it should be a pretty fancy development for that price). The benefits of this project are surely greater than any of the intersection upgrades that benefit a handful of single-occupant vehicles. And it plays into their own mantra of transferring passengers to rail nodes, which slightly makes up for the reduced bus services along Port Rd. This is a double blow against public transport and reinforces Liberal's disdain for it!

How cost effective is storing concrete sleepers he claims are for Brighton right at the Port Spur site, which is not an active railyard? Does Knoll think we’re all idiots? There is a smelly lack of transparency happening which FOI will no doubt reveal. Will the $40 million detailed costing (nice round figure by the way) be released? The recent budget allocated just $8 million for the new Tonsley station. If the Port Dock station was equivalent that would leave $32 million to refurb the existing rail line from Alberton. Gold plated rails for sure.

Yep, agreed with all said - this STINKS.
So the Libs claim grade separation is investment in P.T - umm, strictly not true , it's to ease congestion for motorists predominately.

Grade separations serve to benefit both trains and motorists/pedestrians.
But regardless, something is VERY fishy about sudden the cancellation of the Port Dock project...

Grade separations only benefit trains if it allows for higher frequency running. If you're not doing that, then yes, it's a road project.

Refer it to ICAC.ChillyPhilly wrote:C O R R U P T I O NHoney of a City wrote:How cost effective is storing concrete sleepers he claims are for Brighton right at the Port Spur site, which is not an active railyard? So they've ordered materials for two projects that are still in the planning stages at best?

Or just plain old politics...previous government starts small project in it's party heartland that will benefit locals and the expanded community (once the housing projects are done)....new government from the other side of politics cancels it....
The only issue is that they aren't telling you the truth. That's nothing new for politicians of either persuasion, but hardly corruption for ICAC to look into.
[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
Yeah, let's be sensible throwing such accusations around, so that when real corruption comes up we know what the word means.
What we have here is classic partisan misdirection and misinformation. Anything but the straightup truth.
