Makes you wonder why taller buildings can get up in strange pockets of the city (like CBD east) meanwhile there seems to be this stunted growth with those buildings along Waymouth/Pirie and Currie/Grenfell. This building looks great but would have looked better with a podium spanning the whole site and a slimmer tower on top add 25m to the roof.
Agreed. But make that +100m, 25m it will barely clear Telstra and Grenfell tower esp when viewed from the north.

Because it’s more expensive to build a taller and slim building than build one with the same NLA shorter and fatter. Im guessing some of the resi towers have been taller recently as people typically don’t want to live on the same floor as 10 other appartments, so taller and less appartments per floor is more appealing.

I noticed that some of the contracts are starting to be awarded on this project - also looks like the building has been shaved down slightly to 21 levels (ground level, 3 car park levels plus 17 office levels) from the original 22 by Cbus. Don't think a contractor has been appointed just yet, but I suspect not far off.

What contracts are you referring to?

There is no need to post twice. Once the builder is known I'm sure it will be posted up here.

What's the point of this post? it's far less informative and useful than what Mr. T even had to say

Clearly it is in response to the unnecessary thread bump. Honestly, could you not work that out?

My office is on the 9th floor of 63 Pirie (i.e. directly adjacent this site). Here’s a baseline / “before” shot from my vantage point — excuse window dust / reflections / etc.
Will be good watching this one go up.
