Caltex? I think you mean Ampol?
Nope, Caltex.
Shell Reynella has a sign up stating last day of Shell is Monday 19th Feb, Reopening as a Caltex on Wed 21st Feb.
It looks like Coles Express Salisbury East and "Smithfield East" (Blakeview) are closed for rebranding today (Friday 23 Feb).

New sign is going up on the Salisbury East site. Old coles express sign is down by Clovercrest. Did Salisbury East have a roadhouse at one stage , I know the Smithfield East one did.

I think I'm up to having passed about eight of the sites being rebranded to Caltex. Are there any Coles Express sites in Adelaide that will not become Caltex? Has there been any change there?

Thanks.

Do you know if they will stay as Coles Express, or be rebranded as Shell-OTR?

I've heard Viva will be rebranding most of the interstate Coles Express to OTR (and maybe some will be sold off to Caltex), so I would imagine these would too, given most, if not all, of these remaining sites don't have a nearby OTR that I'm aware of.

The deal to buy OTR required disposal of 25 sites in SA (24 in Adelaide, 1 in Ceduna) - it turns out these were all Coles Express sites. I presume they were identified through a perception of market concentration. The Smithfield East site for example has TWO OTR's just up the road in Smithfield, as well as one a few kilometres away in Munno Para and another in Davoren Park.I was surprised they didn't dump the smaller Smithfield OTR and keep the Coles Express so they had both sides of Main North Road.

I believe the remaining Coles expresses go to Reddy branding before some get upgraded to otr. The sites that are not upgraded remain as Reddy.

Had there been a mixture and they are switching to all one brand? Blakeview, Willaston and Roseworthy have always been BP.

This is a big concern for competition in the local market.

The ACCC should be replaced with a new body with teeth.

Before this acquisition, were there any BP-owned fuel outlets in South Australia? If not, this transaction doesn't change the number of competitors. OTR bought a lot, if not all, BP-owned outlets a decade ago.

The previous transaction mentioned in the article DID make some difference, as Viva bought OTR and already owned Liberty and Coles Express. ACCC required Viva to divest 25 Coles Express outlets to Caltex, who had not been in the SA market, so there has been no net change to the number of brand/operators. Liberty and OTR appear to be continuing as separate businesses, even though they are owned by the same parent. Does Viva only own the Liberty brand, but the outlets are independently owned?

Are we going to see OTR change from BP to Shell brand fuel?
