I love you SJ. I often disagree with you, but I love you nonetheless.

I enjoy your posts SJ, a little healthy skepticism is good for bulldozing Yes-men and the like, please keep it up.
I do find it LOL worthy though that you mis typed ASIC as the now defunct Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Commission :)(ATSIC)
Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Drove past today Mon 13th Sept 2010, no noticeable roofing on the centre(main) bubble yet, didn't get inside to see if any seating has begun or work on the lower bowl. Not long now until wk1 November...approx 60 [work] days, she's gonna be a tight one:(

LA has the Rose Bowl, Adelaide will have the Toilet Bowl. This Fugly design needs to be scrapped and
the planned Eastern Stand needs to go all the way around connecting up to each side of the new Western
Stand.

But i guess we will have Mike Rann to thank for the Toilet Bowl. At least when interstate visitors
laugh at us, we can chuckle back and tell them that its the Toilet Bowl that Mike Rann made so he
can do a big shit in the Parklands. Maybe its designed that way so that when our AFL teams and
Cricket team lose as usually is the case our supports can say "Shit Happens"

what, do you think Mike Rann drew up the plans himself do you, or do you think the SACA employed an architectural firm. You cant seriously be so naive and idiotic

Why do you care what the eastern states think of us?
Is the redevelopment of AO aimed at pleasing them?

Why do such mentalities persist? It's the year 2010, the BankSA saga is over, the state and city are moving forward. Time attitudes and mentality did the same.

Agree regarding seeing the concrete seating bank ricecrackers .. this really cheapens the look (for me) and also the big gaps between each of the 5 sections of the stand looks a little cheap .. one nice sweeping stand (no gaps) I think would look more complete .. also would definitely keep the wind blocked out wouldn't it??

Do we know for sure that no treatment/covering will be applied to the rear of the stand?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Wouldn't have a clue Wayno, but I reckon this is how it will stay ... they could jazz them up by hanging some massive shade sail type canvas (like you see on some ground) with pictures embossed on them of some of SA's and Australia's sporting hero's who have graced the ground in the past and currently .. cricketers, SANFL and AFL or Soccer players .. or project moving images onto each of the four exposed stands to match whatever event is on at that time .. similar to the Northern Lights on Nth Terrace but images of Lillie in the 80's or some awesome specky's, goals, tackles etc. if AFL is on .. I assume something similar to this (but on actual screens) will be on the Southern side ..
