ever tried to catch them?
I stopped bothering once is was very clear I they weren't interested in stopping to pick me up - those buses stop at Unley but aren't really for Unley..... (yes I know being pedantic now).

You do know you're supposed to 'hail' the bus down with your left arm outstretched from the kerb of the road in order to get a bus to pull over. Not just stand there and expect that it will stop.
People who don't actually hail the buses down and then get all shitty afterwards because they keep on going deserve it for being so stupid. Every single bus stop clearly has a sign marked 'hail bus here'.
It's not that hard.

I hail, buses are full so don't stop.
when they aren't full they are not on time, why would I bother waiting 15-20 and sometimes 30 minutes when in that time, I'm in the city parked and walking down the mall?

I live South of Unley, and usually drive to Goodwood Road Tram stop, park the car for free and tram in. Beats traffic in the car or bus and the saving on car parking in the city covers the tram fare. I do think some decent park and rides on the Southern side, maybe adjacent Wayville train station would be a bonus. The one at the entertainment centre is very popular.

Oh, and more frequent services for the inner suburbs are a must if they dont want people driving in from the inner suburbs.

We are edgeing closer to financial disaster by the day. SA's revenue raisings abilities are almost completely exhausted (current taxes and fines are all nearly highest in the country, despite being one of the least economically strong).
The economic strength of SA is where? A large percentage of our workforce is in government and as our finances plunge into a joke the only way out is going to be massive job cuts. Major projects are going to be few and far between.
It begs the question and some thought, why has this happened? What happened to those sustainable budget committees a few years ago! What about the razor gang? Remember foley announcing all those forecast surpluses.
IMO Jack Snellings inability to make the tough decisions 18-24 months ago is costing this state dearly. Can he be trusted to ever make a tough decision. Or will he leave that for the next government. I cannot see SA not going into recession in the next 12-18 months. Especially after some of the current major projects are finished.
Tough times ahead & few public assets left to sell

SA Labor MPs facing axe in rumoured cabinet reshuffle
Political Reporter Daniel Wills
adelaidenow January 14, 2013
PREMIER Jay Weatherill has refused to deny growing speculation he is set to deliver a major reshuffle before State Parliament resumes, including axing up to four current ministers.
Several well-placed Labor sources have told adelaidenow change is expected within the next month.
adelaidenow was today told long-serving Water and the River Murray Minister Paul Caica has informed senior public servants in his department he will soon step down from Cabinet.
Mr Caica's office today left comment to Mr Weatherill.
It is also understood the Cabinet tenures of Transport and Infrastructure Minister Pat Conlon and Health and Ageing Minister John Hill are soon to end as the pair are unlikely to contest their seats at the next election.
Industrial Relations Minister Russell Wortley is understood to be facing the axe from Cabinet on performance grounds.
The four omissions are likely to only be replaced with two new ministers.
That would cut the overall size of cabinet from 15 to 13 members.
It would return Cabinet to the size it was before former premier Mike Rann made room for independents in the 2002 hung parliament and would save taxpayers about $20 million.
Candidates to come into Cabinet include newly-elected Left faction MPs Susan Close and Kyam Maher.
The most likely Right faction MPs to be considered are Leesa Vlahos and Lee Odenwalder.
Such a reshuffle would also require major changes to existing portfolio allocations.
There has been internal Labor speculation Mr Conlon's portfolios would be merged with Deputy Premier John Rau's planning responsibilities, creating a super development, transport and housing ministry.
Mr Weatherill this afternoon said: "I don't comment on speculation of this sort".
Labor sources say there is almost certainly to be a reshuffle early in the year as the State Government moves to get on the front foot just over a year before the 2014 vote.
The ongoing Debelle Inquiry into allegations sex abuse at state schools has been covered up is complicating Labor's reshuffle calculations, with fears embarrassing findings could require further juggling.
Education and Child Development Minister Grace Portolesi is a close ally and former chief of staff to Mr Weatherill.
However, she has been damaged by intense media scrutiny on her response to the cover up claims.
State Parliament resumes on February 5.

Health Minister John Hill, Infrastructure Minister Pat Conlon quit SA Labor Cabinet
Political Reporter Daniel Wills
adelaidenow January 15, 2013
HEALTH and Ageing Minister John Hill has confirmed he will follow senior Labor colleague Patrick Conlon in resigning from Cabinet in a major reshuffle expected before week's end.
Mr Hill tweeted at 9.35am today: "Just informed my staff that I will not be contesting the next election & that I will be standing down from the Ministry on Monday.
"It's been a huge privilege to represent the people of Kaurna & to serve as a Labor Minister."
Mr Hill's decision to resign comes after a similar decision by Mr Conlon.
One of the most senior members of the Labor Cabinet, he has been one of the most dominant Government figures of the past decade along with former premier Mike Rann and ex-treasurer Kevin Foley.

Mr Rann and Mr Foley both left politics last February, four months after Jay Weatherill became Premier, to enable "generational change".
Mr Conlon's resignation will spark a broader reshuffle in which Labor sources tip Mr Weatherill will drop four ministers.
Water and the River Murray Minister Paul Caica is understood to have told senior public servants that he is quitting Cabinet.
adelaidenow understands that Industrial Relations Minister Russell Wortley is likely to be dumped from Cabinet on performance grounds.
Infrastructure Minister Patrick Conlon also has resigned from Labor's Cabinet, triggering a rumoured reshuffle.
In a statement released exclusively to adelaidenow late last night, Mr Conlon said the ability to renew was one of Labor's strengths.
"I spoke to the Premier late last year about my decision not to run for re-election in 2014," Mr Conlon said.
"One of the great strengths of the Labor Party is its capacity to renew while maintaining its continuity of purpose and belief.
"The Premier has a view, and I share it, that this is an appropriate time to enable the next stage in renewal."
Among Mr Conlon's major achievements are overseeing a multibillion-dollar upgrade of the state's road, rail and tram networks as well as shepherding delivery of the Adelaide Oval and Riverbank upgrades which are expected to be transformative projects for the city.
Mr Weatherill said a reshuffle would be announced "in due course".
Mr Conlon will remain on the backbench after the reshuffle.
Labor sources say only two new ministers are expected to be brought into Cabinet, taking the overall number of ministers from 15 to 13.
It would return Cabinet to the size it was before Mr Rann expanded it to include independents following the 2002 election.
Mr Conlon holds the marginal inner-city seat of Elder, which is set to become a key battleground for the 2014 election.
As yet, Labor does not have a candidate in the seat.
Mr Hill will not recontest, leaving the party needing a candidate in his southern suburbs seat of Kaurna.
Mr Weatherill yesterday refused to deny that a reshuffle was imminent, following first reports on adelaidenow.
Mr Caica's office would not comment late last night.
It is unclear if Mr Caica, a highly regarded minister who helped deliver the historic River Murray reform deal last year, intends to contest the next election. His seat of Colton is also marginal.
Candidates to come into Cabinet include newly elected Left faction MPs Susan Close and Kyam Maher.
The most likely Right faction MPs to be considered for Cabinet are Leesa Vlahos and Lee Odenwalder.
Such a reshuffle would also require major changes to existing portfolio allocations.
There has been internal Labor speculation Mr Conlon's portfolios would be merged with Deputy Premier John Rau's planning responsibilities, creating a super development, transport and housing ministry.
State Parliament resumes on February 5 and Labor is understood to be determined to resolve any internal instability before then to allow the Government to begin the 12-month election campaign strongly.
Mr Conlon is on leave for the next fortnight.
Hill, Conlon, Wortley, possibly Caica to go.

AdelaideNow are saying she quit because of all the disunity, which is so very true of the SA branch of the Liberal party. Could work against their chances for victory in 2014 with their own leader quitting because of disunity. As for her replacement; it better not be Martin Hamilton-Smith.

The SA Liberals have got to be one of the most disunited parties in Australia - I don't get why they don't just split into the Liberal Movement and the Conservatives as it were back in the 70s.

Getting sick of the media, especially the Advertiser harp on about Alexander Downer.
"I don't have any plans to enter state politics. I've said that to everyone over and over again," he told adelaidenow shortly after Ms Redmond's announcement.
Btw I'm glad Redmond is gone, she was useless.
