If this is true (which I prey to god it is), this will be a very good activation of Gawler Place.

Also looking at Google Maps, this space could possibly fit two mini-major stores - e.g. H&M, Topshop, Uniqlo or Zara

Paul's Warehouse (former Freedom) on Grote St is closing for a 'rebuild from scratch'.

Will the basement stores (EB/Zing, JB, Miller's & Shin Tokyo) at Rundle Mall Plaza be staying? The future looks pretty grim...

I don't think it'll be H&M, if you look at their footprint everywhere else in Australia, even with such a large chunk of this building it doesn't match what they have elsewhere... Seems more in-line with TopShop but then they're in Myer...

Depending on what you read on t'interweb, H&M on Bourke Street Mall is between 4500 and 5000 square metres, spread over three levels. The retail areas (i.e. not including service cores, stairs etc) of Levels 1 and 2 of RMP are about 3,200 square metres each. The combined total of the ground floor units as they stand at the moment is about 1000 square metres. The mezzanine would presumably be the same size - that's 8400 square metres in total.

Obviously space for stock would be an issue as I think the mezzanine is currently used for this. Based on their maze-like Bourke Street store, I can't see why H&M would object to using Ground, Mezzanine and First floors as retail space (5,200 square metres as it stands) and using Level 2 for stock.

If Level 1 isn't taken into account (i.e. only the ground floor and mezzanine levels are being redeveloped) then that's still 2000 square metres in total, which is about the size of H&M's Pacific Werribee store, but I agree it seems on the small side.

Can you tell I'm really keen on H&M moving in? I'd be happy with TopShop/Man (although in my opinion they seem to usually be a bit smaller than H&Ms), a Uniqlo would be great too. Zara I wouldn't be too fussed about - but that's just personal opinion...

My guess is it's probably just Zara relocating from Burnside to the CBD.

Shisi at Southern Cross will be closing down in the next few weeks.
Has some pretty cheap stuff there.

And the big game of renovation musical chairs continues. When finished, will everyone be in a nicer, new spot?

Have heard from sources close to RMP management that the converted space is going to be a H&M!

Sweet! All we'd need is a Uniqlo and then we'd have one of the best retail precincts in the country (luxury brands excluded).

Saw in Thursday's paper that the RMP awning has been converted to balcony area in an artist's impression.

That was part of the Rundle Mall masterplan renders, nothing has happened of that sort.

Have done some more snooping around on the ground floor in RMP - the general consensus seems to be that H&M are moving in. Considering that (at least according to one shop worker I spoke to) architects have been around the ground floor tenancies, I would have thought it would be quite likely that some information was gleaned either directly or indirectly from them whilst they were in the building.

Obviously still conjecture at this stage but it's starting to look a little bit promising...

Is it just H&M or is there room for other stores?
