I presume Built Environs won a bid to undertake the demolition works and level the building platau but were not able to secure the building contract.
That's a bit awkward...

Construction begins on an $80 million East End Apartment project in Adelaide CBD
Giuseppe Tauriello, The Advertiser
CONSTRUCTION of an $80 million apartment project in the East End has kicked off as CBD stamp duty concessions draw to a close.
Developer Wellstone Property says its East End Apartments project at the eastern end of Pirie St will create 350 jobs during construction.
Designed by local architect Cheesman Architects and to be built by Hindmarsh Construction, the project will add 140 apartments to the city skyline across 16 storeys.
Wellstone Property director Damon Semanic said more than half of the apartments were already sold, with demand boosted by the Adelaide City Council’s rates rebate to owner-occupiers, last year’s $10,000 pre-construction grant and off-the-plan stamp duty concessions, which end in June.
“East End Apartments is set to become a premier destination for modern inner city living in Adelaide, so we’re absolutely thrilled to turn the first sod and commence construction,” he said.
“Our development team has put in countless hours of design and planning work to get to this point, so it’s exciting to start turning our plans for the site into reality.”
The project includes one, two and three-bedroom apartments, with prices starting from $399,000 for two-bedroom floorplans.
Mr Semanic said stencil artworks would be painted on the exterior of the building by local artist Joshua Smith.
“The apartments themselves will also be immaculately appointed and feature glass-embraced
balconies, along with floor-to-ceiling windows to enhance the amazing views that will be available of the city, parklands and Adelaide Hills,” he said.
Planning Minister Stephan Knoll and Lord Mayor Martin Haese attended Thursday’s ceremony to officially break ground on the project.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of next year.

Does anyone else think the placement of the crane odd? Is it going to grow out of a lift core?

It's not uncommon, 115 King William Street's crane was in the core.GrowAdelaide wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 1:46 pmDoes anyone else think the placement of the crane odd? Is it going to grow out of a lift core?

Normally the crane would be as close to the centre of the site as possible. In this case as the crane is close to the front of the site,it means the crane will have to have a long reach to cover the back corners.

A mobile crane installed some precast wall panels along rear part of the west side. picture 17/6/2018.
