It's so ugly! If I was making a movie about a soulless dystopian future, this is the type of building I'd put in.
Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
does it get a 5 star energy rating for its use of black cladding on the western wall

The only positive I can find about the facade change is that it lets in more natural light for tenancies facing the Mall.

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail
I remember when it opened. I'm not sure how many days it had been open when I first went there. Certainly not opening day but close to it. Dazzeland was packed. The line up for the Jazz Junction stretched around the entire floor and down to the floor below. I was lining up in it for ages and they had staff patrolling the line. They spotted me and said I was too short to go on it. Being a kid, I did the only thing you could do in that situation and turned on the water works. They gave me a free day pass after that. I used that day pass a few weeks later and the place was a dustbowl already. That's how quickly the place tanked and took half of South Australia with it.
Other memory trigger from that vid is there was a moment on the below ground floor there. Camera didn't pan enough, but there was a shop called Stadium Sports Cards there. Between that place and their other shop in Arndale, that was so much time spent. In those times, trading cards was absolutely huge business.

I could be wrong but the amount of windows hasn't changed - if anything it will let less light in as the cladding has gone on top of existing windows especially in the photo shown.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 8:44 amThe only positive I can find about the facade change is that it lets in more natural light for tenancies facing the Mall.

I believe you're right, but did notice that the likes of Jamaica Blue and Lincraft now have a lot more natural light. Previously, especially the latter, ignored the window side completely.baytram366 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 9:42 amI could be wrong but the amount of windows hasn't changed - if anything it will let less light in as the cladding has gone on top of existing windows especially in the photo shown.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 8:44 amThe only positive I can find about the facade change is that it lets in more natural light for tenancies facing the Mall.
